Greetings from the Principal
Dear Riverview families,
This will be a short week for students, as parent-teacher conferences take priority for Wednesday evening and Thursday all day. Conferences are a protected time to discuss celebrations and/or concerns that you and your child's teacher may have, as well as to ensure that you develop a shared vision of learning and growth. We strive to create a positive, optimal learning environment for each student, and teachers have been hard at work building relationships, providing a variety of learning experiences, and developing a personalized learning plan for each student to achieve his or her full potential.
On behalf of the Riverview staff, we invite you to come prepared to conferences with your observations of your child's learning needs and strengths, and any questions to seek clarification on how to best support your child's education. During conferences, please do not hesitate to drop by the office to say hello!
Make it a great week!
Beth Mildren
Thank You from Miss Sahadeo...
I just want to take a moment to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your many kind words of congratulations! Becoming the finalist for the Region 3 Kansas Teacher of the Year was a surreal moment. I was lucky to be surrounded by my family, fabulous teammates, and administration. I look forward to continuing to represent Riverview and De Soto in November's final KTOY competition!

A Note from Nurse Kerry...
Hello RE families,
I will be conducting hearing & vision screenings this year on kindergarten, 2nd grade, 4th grade and any new students to the building. I will also have local dentists &/or hygienists come to check the students teeth in February for dental awareness month.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact me at kokeefeowens@usd232.org or 441-0808.
Thanks,
Nurse Kerry
Students must be healthy to be educated
and educated to be healthy.
I Love Literacy! Riverview's Literacy Team
This year we are excited to share with you our building goal for literacy. Through reading and writing along with descriptive feedback, in all curricular areas, students will build critical skills, learn content material more effectively, and communicate their knowledge. Students will be given tools to read text closely in order to unpack what it says so that they may respond thoughtfully in written form. As a school, teachers will be focusing on close reading techniques in order to help students dig deeper into the text. You can help at home by reading with your student(s) and talk about what they are reading. Establish a routine at home to promote the love of reading.
Kansas Teacher of the Year...
