A Message from the Principal
Greetings,
What a wonderful celebration we had last night! Thanks to all of you who came to learn more about Maple from our students and to formally celebrate our Blue Ribbon Award. Everyone left energized! I was still happy when I woke up this morning. I was proud of the student ownership: Gabby’s design of the Blue Ribbon Celebration t-shirt, the 4th grade interviews, and the 4th grade publication of “Maple Minutes”. Wow, just wow! Mrs. George and Mrs. Lee are both gifted in the arts, but also in their ability to teach and instill an appreciation of the arts with each student. I honestly don’t ever want to take the artwork off the walls. It looks FANTASTIC!
IREAD3 results will be available to parents around May 4th. If your child did not pass, you will receive a personal phone call from me the week of April 23rd. There will be an opportunity for summer school and retesting in June.
Our 3rd and 4th grade students will begin taking ISTEP next week. 3rd grade will test first and then we will begin 4th grade testing. The testing window is from April 16th – May 4th. Please insure your child is well rested, has a protein filled breakfast and is at school on time each day. Thanks in advance for your help.
I shared information about early voting in a handout at the program. This is a GREAT option if you are not able to vote on May 8th or maybe you want to avoid the lines. I have placed the information in this newsletter for your reference.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Harrison

Counselor's Corner
Moana Wants You to be Kind AND Screen-Free!!
Kindness is contagious and here at Maple, we are trying to start an epidemic! During the month of April, our staff will be looking for students who commit random acts of kindness. These will be documented on paper bricks, and displayed in our wall of kindness. If we collect 75 bricks in the month of April, we will have a special celebration at the start of May!
Here in the counseling department, we will soon be kicking off Screen-Free Week, which is April 15-21 this year. Take some time to talk to your child about the decision to commit to spending a week with no T.V. or video games. We will be giving out some fun prizes this year to those who will be participating. Dust off your basketball, air up the tires in your bike or jump on a raft and sail the ocean with Moana!
