Support Staff Recognition

Ms. Jenna Schaper is an amazing IA and a vital part of the GTE team working in the CDL. She has worked at Green Tree for 17 years in various positions, and has worked in the CDL for the last 6 years. Her outstanding performance in and out of the classroom goes above and beyond any expectations, and she truly has a heart of gold. Jenna is student centered and genuinely cares about all students’ and staffs’ well being. She greets students and staff with a smile and is always willing to help! In the classroom, Jenna assists the students with academic work, art projects and communication skills. She is able to problem solve and react quickly in all situations. Her professional demeanor and positive attitude are an asset to the GTE family! Thank you Ms. Schaper for your dedication to the students and staff at GTE!


Please join us for our February Service Project to support the Crisis Nursery by donating personal care items (lotions, sanitizer, soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc). Items will be donated to the Crisis Nursery of Wentzville to support under-resourced Crisis Nursery Families who cannot afford them. Items will be collected during the week of February 13th. Thanks in advance for your support of these families!

Library News

Scholastic Book Fair

Green Tree will host our Spring Book Fair in the library starting on Tuesday, March 7th. Students will be able to shop for books before school, during their regular library class, and after school. Check our Green Tree calendar for special events for families during the book fair. The Scholastic flyer with a note featuring new book titles, classroom shopping times, and details will come home with students the week before the book fair. We look forward to helping our students, families, and staff find some great books at affordable prices on March 7th through 14th!

Hat Day at GTE on March 2nd!

Green Tree will celebrate the birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr. Seuss) during the week of February 27th through March 3rd. Students will answer trivia questions to have their names put into a drawing for a Cat in the Hat Stovepipe Hat or a $10 gift certificate for the Scholastic Book Fair in March. On March 2nd, students may wear a hat from home (that is appropriate for school) or purchase a Red/White Stovepipe Hat for $5. Dr. Seuss is a beloved children’s author for his rhyming words, colorful illustrations, and books with wisdom plus silliness!


Computer Club

The Computer Club kicked off with website development using Google Sites. These young ladies have organized their information, begun creating their site, and added some interesting features. They will be learning how to incorporate embedding videos, adding text and images, navigation, incorporating documents from their Google Drive, and sharing their published site with others.

The creators of Bloxel visited Fourth grade and gave a presentation. The students worked in teams to collaborate and design their own video games. The games they created could be used in a variety of ways in all content areas. ​

PTO Family Fun Events

The GTE PTO is excited to host a fundraising event at Jimmy Johns in Lake St. Louis on Thursday, February 9th from 5:00-9:00pm. Family Reading Night

GTE will be holding its annual "Family Reading Night" on Thursday March 9th from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Family Reading Night is an evening where families are exposed to new authors and are able to participate in activities linked to reading. We have arranged for a storyteller to perform for students and their families and will have a basket raffle to help raise money for our book room. Please join us for an exciting evening of reading!

The Green Tree S.T.E.A.M. Explosion was held on the evening of January 26th. Students and their families participated in EXCITING, HANDS ON ACTIVITES in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math!! The MySci Bus was also here. Everyone had an amazing time!

Super Readers

Today was such an exciting day for our GTE Super Readers! To help us celebrate, Lake St. Louis Police Chief Mike Force and firefighters Josh, Mike and Tim from the Wentzville Fire Protection District came to visit. They read Mustache Baby Meets His Match by Bridget Heos, If You Ever Want to Bring an Alligator to School, Don't! by Elise Parsley, Officer Buckle and Gloria by Peggy Rathmann and Police Cat by Enid Hinkes. They also shared personal stories about their love for reading and why it is so important.

2017 Lake St. Louis Polar Plunge

On Saturday February 4th GTE Staff members Jody Brown, Mindy Eberle, April Fitzgerald, Monica Gillespie, Leslie Grey, Alison Haddock, Natasha Neupert, Jenna Schaper and Kristen Spencer participated in the Polar Plunge held at the Lake St. Louis Community Association.

The Polar Plunge is held to benefit Special Olympics Missouri. It helps provide year-round sports and training opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. GTE raised

$1, 793.00 for Special Olympics through private donations, staff jeans day and the "Just Chillin" Lemonade Stand.

GTE Dream Team Luncheon

Way to Go Dream Team students! The Green Tree Dream Team is a program to recognize and reward students who go above and beyond by following our Gator 3 expectations.

Nurses Notes

GTE raised $8,643.00 for the American Heart Association! This is the most money we have raised thus far.

Rachel Warren raised $1,034.00, making her the top fundraiser for the 2nd year in a row.

The Wentzville School District is preparing for the total solar eclipse on August 21, 2017. Since all students and staff will need viewing glasses, the district is hosting a contest to allow students the chance to design the glasses. Templates for the contest are available in the office at Green Tree.

Designs must be submitted to the GTE office by Friday, February 24. Feel free to contact Mrs. Winter at with any questions.

Quilt Auction

GTE will be holding a quilt auction beginning March 1st and concluding at Family Reading Night on March 9th at 8:00 pm CST. The quilts being auctioned were made by 4th Grade students last school year.

This is just a friendly reminder to send your child with a healthy snack daily. Snacks are beneficial to children by promoting good nutrition and encouraging lifelong healthful habits. It also helps increase energy levels and the ability to focus throughout the day.

Lost and Found

Dear Parents,

If your child is missing any item(s), please visit the lost and found area located in the GTE cafeteria. Students are also allowed to check the Lost and Found area before school, during lunch and after school. It is highly recommended that your child's name be placed in all coats, jackets, sweaters, hats, lunch boxes and backpacks.
