Field Trip!!

Our field trip to Strawtown Park is this Thursday, April 30. Students will need a completely disposable lunch and drink. Much of the field trip takes place outside so be sure your child is dressed for the weather that day and wears tennis shoes.

Field Day Helpers Needed.

Field Day at TCE will be Friday, May 22. Mr. Cushman and the Field Day committee is in need of many volunteers to help with this fun-filled day. A sign up form was sent home yesterday. If you can help please complete the form and return it to school.

Courtney Cooper

Miss. Cooper will start taking over starting Monday. She has been stopping in to see the kids and is very excited about this opportunity. She will do a wonderful job. You can contact her through her email cmcooper@hse.k12.in.us. I will see everyone soon! Thanks!

Scholastic Book Orders

Today I sent home the very last book order for the year. I am asking that they are returned no later than May 4th, so that they will get turned in and returned in time for the end of the year. Feel free to send in a check with your child's book orders Miss. Cooper will get these to me and I will place the order. You may use the link that I have attached below to order books from the book order as well. You may also click on the Book Order Link below to order online or go to www.scholastic.com and use our class code GPKTW. When you order online you are not limited to what is in the flyers. You can search their site for any books that they have available! I will only be sending one more book order out this year. Thank you for supporting our classroom every time you order books. :)

Things we are collecting...

There are several items that we are always collecting at school. Feel free to send them in whenever you need to.

  • April 22 was the last day to send in bottle caps.
  • Boxtops
  • Campbells Labels for Education

Coming up next week....

Reading- We will be reading non-fiction material about animal habitats. We will be learning how to take facts from the story and put them in our own words. We will later be using this information to present what we learned.

Spelling - New spelling lists will be sent home Monday. The test will be Friday May 8th.

Our sight words for this test are: wash, show, hot, because, far

Writing - We will be reviewing adjectives. We will also be looking at ways to share the information that we are learning through our research on animal habitats.

Math - We will start our unit on money. The students will be busy counting pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters. They will learn how to create more than one way given a set amount. This is a concept that is great to review at home by just having your child counting a set group of coins.

Science - We will continue our study of begin living vs. non-living things and how they are similar and different.
