Beall Brief
Week of September 15
Just a few updates:
Everyone has a role in maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment for all students and staff. Beall staff will continue to increase cleaning protocols when needed, address broken equipment in a timely manner, and use MCPS approved cleaning supplies in the classrooms and hallways. We ask families to continue to monitor students for any health related symptoms that need to be addressed. Please feel free to contact the health room staff if you have questions and need resources. We often receive requests about Covid, lice, strep throat, fever, or other individual injuries that may require school day accomodations.
Health Room Reminders:
Ms. April Medillin (School Nurse) and Ms. Angelia Davis (Healthroom Technician) are wonderful resources for health related questions.
Medication will not be administered in the health room unless:
The parent/guardian hand delivers the medication to school. Medication must be properly labeled by a pharmacist and MCPS Form # 525-13 (Authorization to Prescribe Medicine) must be filled out by a Physician and given to the health technician. Form # 525-13 is available in the health room or online. Our health room staff (240-740-1222) will be happy to assist you if you have any questions.
Community Notification of Health Related Issues
Community letters and notifications will be shared when we are able to do so. Generally speaking, multiple cases in a classroom need to be identified for a class letter to be sent home. Multiple classrooms in the school need to be impacted for grade level or school wide information to be sent home. There may be opportunities for Beall staff to share information from MCPS. (See below for an example.)
COVID-19 Outbreak Measures and Vaccine News (from MCPS)
As new cases of COVID-19 increase locally, we have seen outbreaks occurring in multiple schools across the county. Temporary outbreak precautions for individual classrooms where COVID-19 is spreading rapidly helps prevent spread to vulnerable individuals and to the rest of school. Check out the FAQ page for more information about how outbreaks are managed. The newly approved COVID-19 updated vaccine will be available in our area in the next few weeks. For information about COVID-19, influenza and RSV vaccine availability, refer to Vaccines.Gov.
REMINDER: Early Dismissal on Friday, September 22, 2023
Share Your Feedback on the MCPS 2024–2025 School Year Calendar
MCPS is seeking the community’s feedback as it works to finalize the 2024–2025 school calendar. Please complete this survey to share your input.
Your feedback represents an important component of the development process. MCPS will consider educational interests, operational needs, mandated school closures by state law, compliance with minimum instructional days and credit hour requirements, inclement weather and other emergencies, staff professional days and early release days, alignment with assessment schedules and more.
Back to School Picnic- UPDATE
Please sign-up here to volunteer.
- Hotdog Hideout is available to partner with us again and will be donating back a portion of sales to the PTA.
- We are also partnering with Bear’s Ice, who will be attending with THREE ice machines to help cut down on lines for a sweet treat.
- We are also thrilled to welcome Panateca, a Beall family business, back for another event.
- So long as we have the volunteers, we will also be selling pizza, snacks, and drinks and may even have another truck in the works.

Join the PTA!
Please join the PTA for the 2023-2024 school year! Your support is critical for the PTA programs and events that we all love. The 2023-2024 membership form is now open - please join today! A note about this year's dues: In an effort to ensure that cost is not a barrier to any Beall family joining the PTA, we have lowered our PTA dues substantially. We are therefore kindly requesting that you consider making a donation to the PTA when you purchase your membership, to support our programming. A donation in the amount of $20 (individual) or $35 (family) would bring your total contribution in line with last year's dues, but any amount is appreciated. We thank you for your support.
