Nest Fest
A week of fun birding and habitat exploration
Well Done Beni-Hill!
Nest Fest was a success!
We would like to thank Logan C. Ritchie for the Nest Fest Article in Decaturish.
And a very special thank you to our wonderful neighbor, the original Beni-Hillbilly, Woody Jones, for his artistry and contribution to making the inaugural Nest Fest such a fun neighborhood happening.
OH! We almost forgot.. A little birdy told us that some of you who participated might find a *sursy on your porch as our way to thank you for joining in the fun!
*sursy (plural sursies)
- (Southern US) An inexpensive but unexpected gift.

How to Make A Tin Foil Bird
- Aluminum Foil
- Duct Tape
- Acrylic Paint
- Bamboo Skewers ( or sticks)
- Toothpicks
- Stiff Wire that bends
A: Tightly squeeze a ball of foil into the shape of a bird. You can attach a head shape to the body using toothpicks. A small piece of foil can be twisted into a beak.
B: Add more foil to cover the bird shape until you get the shape and size you want.
C: Draw wing and tail shape onto a piece of cardboard. A cereal box cardboard works well.
D: Push a stick through the body (where the wings would be)until it sticks out equally on both sides. Now push another stick through the same way 1/2 inch from the first. Then push two sticks into the tail
E: Attach the wings and tail to the sticks using duct tape. Cover the cardboard wings and tail with more foil.
F: Cut narrow strips of duct tape and use them to cover the entire bird.
G:Legs can be made from wire. Bend one end of the wire into a bird foot shape. Push the other end of that wire into the body. Add duct tape to hold into place.
H: To display bird just make a loop in one end of a piece of wire and push the other end through the body till it sticks out about 1/2 inch, Bend it and tape in place.
I: Paint with acrylic paint. ( $1.50 at Michaels)
