Principal's Message
Dear Lincoln Families,
We had a successful first week back to school! Thank you for being patient with us while we navigate and perfect our arrival and dismissal procedures. Now that the week is finally coming to an end, we have seen an improvement in both of these areas.
As we head into week 2, please remind your children of the importance of layered mitigation strategies, including self-checking for symptoms, mask wearing, frequent hand washing, and practicing social distancing. I would like to continue to remind all of you the importance of self-screening your children at home. Parents, caregivers, or guardians should be strongly encouraged to monitor their children for symptoms of illness every day through home-based symptom screening. Please reference the Stay at Home Guidelines below for additional information.
As a reminder, Masks will be required for all students and adults when students are present. Knowing that COVID-19 continues to be a fluid situation we will continue to monitor California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) guidelines.
Dream Big, Work Hard, Make it Happen!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Perry
Get involved!
We are excited to offer parent involvement opportunities again this year. We are in need of TWO parent volunteers to serve on our School Site Council (SSC). The SSC makes decisions on the focus of our funding and the allocation of resources to support our school community. SSC will meet a minimum of 4 times this school year. At this point in time, the meetings will be held virtually. Nomination forms will be sent out shortly. Please nominate parents who you believe will be able to participate in the decision-making process here at Lincoln. You are always able to nominate yourself as well. Please get involved. Be the change and volunteer and make a difference.
iReady Diagnostic Reading Assessment
General Education students in K-6 grade will be taking the iReady Diagnostic (ELA and Math) August 16-August 20th. i‑Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment designed to provide teachers with actionable insight into student needs. It offers a complete picture of student performance and growth, eliminating the need for multiple redundant tests. By adapting to student responses and assessing a broad range of skills—including skills above and below a student’s chronological grade—the i‑Ready Diagnostic pinpoints student ability level, identifies the specific skills students need to learn to accelerate their growth, and charts a personalized learning path for each student.
Here are some helpful strategies to discuss with your child to help them "Do their best on the test":
1. Encourage your student to do their best.
2. Emphasize “thinking before clicking,” because just clicking through will not be a
productive use of their time nor reflect what your child actually knows.
3. Remind your child to read passages in their entirety, use paper and pencil to solve math
problems.
4. Use the tools that appear at the bottom of the screen in some lessons.
5. Re-read passages/sentences
6. Ensure the house is free and clear from distractions
