Remembrance Day at MLC
See details below if you're interested in joining the Morinville community at the MLC for the Morinville Military History Event.
Supporting families in need
MCHS is looking to partner with local companies to support our families in need. Proper nutrition is found to contribute to positive school outcomes, better behaviors and learning environments and increase brain functions. Here at MCHS we are looking to support our students' learning by being able to provide supplemental lunches and snacks to a small population in need. If you or someone you know would like to donate fresh produce, non perishables or even a monetary contribution, every ounce of it will go towards supporting the students of MCHS.
Thank you for considering, if you have any questions or concerns please contact Courtney MacDonald at cmmacdonald@gsacrd.ab.ca
Aspen House
A group of our grade 9 students had the pleasure of going to the Aspen House last week. Students were able to engage with the residents in a variety of ways including bowling! Our MCHS ambassadors made us proud and were able to give back to the community.

SAFE AND CARING SCHOOLS
GSACRD Voice
Sometimes, talking to teenagers can feel like talking to a wall. You might be trying to have a conversation with them about dinner or weekend plans, curfew, or school expectations, and they will only remember pieces of information later, or nothing at all because they weren’t making eye contact or looking at their phone. While this can be a general annoyance, active listening is an important skill for your teen to develop that can impact school, job interviews, and relationships. Thankfully, this is a skill we can teach our teen by modelling our own active listening! Visit Big Life Journal for more information and tips, or check out the graphic below!
Is your child experiencing test anxiety?
Starting Monday October 30th, a 7 week long test anxiety group will meet once per week during lunch hour. Using a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy approach, we will work on strategies to manage anxiety around taking tests to improve performance and marks. If you're unsure if this group is right for you, come to the first meeting and find out!
Counseling Corner
We'd like to take the time to mention that we offer a range of counselling services at MCHS. Whether it be for academic or personal reasons, students can get help. See the contact information below for details.

GOSPEL READING: Luke 12:1-7
In the meantime, when so many thousands of the multitude had gathered together that they trod upon one another, he began to say to his disciples first, "Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. 2 Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. 3 Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed upon the housetops. 4 "I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. 5 But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I tell you, fear him! 6 Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. 7 Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.
Hypocrisy or Integrity?
The Jewish religious leaders set a trap for Jesus. They're trying to find holes in his words and actions. But Jesus is the ultimate example of integrity. The Pharisees are the ultimate example of hypocrites. What's the difference?
