A Message from Principal Boucher
SLPHS Families,
We are into the third trimester with nine weeks remaining. I look forward to all we will learn and accomplish with students and as a staff over these weeks both at school and in our virtual classrooms.
To help students continue to learn at school, please remain diligent with health screening before sending students to school. If a student has any symptoms, they must stay home. With variant strains of COVID-19 in our community and increasing cases, it is vitally important we all do what we can to help keep kids learning at school with as few interruptions as possible.
Important updates for this week:
- Prom: We continue to develop our plans for a Junior/Senior Prom on Saturday, May 22. We are planning for an open-air Grand March and Prom on-site at the high school. Students in 11th and 12th grade will begin receiving information from the prom advisors in the coming weeks.
- Graduation: We are working on plans for an in-person graduation ceremony, and related senior/family photo and recognition opportunities. Right now, we are working through the guidelines provided by the state for graduation ceremonies and determining what venue will afford us the most tickets per graduate. We will continue to provide updates on this in the coming weeks.
- Registration for 2021-2022: Recordings of information sessions are now posted on the registration “hub” – SpringLakeParkSchools.org/HSRegistration. Explore the course catalog, watch a presentation, download a registration worksheet – and see more information about learning modes for next year. Registration will close Friday, April 16. Students in grades 9-11 will be working with counselors this week to make their choices and officially record their selections in Campus.
- Wednesday Schedule: A reminder to all families that each Wednesday this spring all students – those learning at school AND at home – are responsible for attending to the learning in three extended periods/courses in the morning. The afternoons provide opportunities to engage in other programming. Almost all students have instructors that teach a portion of their day in-person at school. As a result, students in both of our learning models have the same schedule each Wednesday.
We will make the most of spring 2021! As always, thank you for your ongoing partnership as we build bright futures, together.
