Lending Library Update:
- As a reminder, Cabrillo Point Academy’s library is working toward a partial reopening in January. Until that time, you are welcome to continue dropping returned items off at the library, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. Homeschooling Advice
Help! My Child HATES Being Homeschooled! 5 Questions You Need to Ask Yourself
If there’s one thing I know about homeschool moms, it’s that we love to focus on the good things that happen during our homeschool time.
In our efforts to express to people how much we love this way of life, we can sometimes forget that people, especially other homeschoolers, need to hear the negative aspects, as well.
Today I’m going to set the record straight on one thing…
Not all kids adore homeschooling.
In fact, some children will go so far as to say that they hate it. If you happen to be the parent of one of these kids, I’m going to offer some encouragement to you today.
Firstly, I would like to point out that every child has good days and bad days. I’m guessing that homeschoolers who never complain about their school work are few and far between.
So today’s post isn’t necessarily about those kids who occasionally grumble about homeschooling when they’re in a bad mood. I’m talking about the kids who fight you tooth and nail every single day and sometimes outright tell you how much they despise learning at home. Yeah. They do exist.
A knee jerk reaction to this often involves sending the child back to school. And while that decision is entirely up to each individual family, I really feel the need to point out one thing:
School probably won’t work much better.
Oftentimes, the children who refuse to cooperate with their parents do so because they are exceedingly strong-willed. They don’t like being told what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. In cases like this, obviously a traditional school setting will only make things worse.
So what should you do? There is no easy answer to this question, but for those of you in this situation, I’m going to share with you…

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
CHAPERONES
All students must be accompanied on school-organized field trips by an adult chaperone; we do not offer drop-off field trips!
Please make sure to add a chaperone ticket when booking field trips for your student(s)!
Due to limited space and availability, we can only allow one chaperone per family.
Depending on the venue, it may be possible to purchase additional tickets directly from the venue.
We cannot guarantee additional tickets will be available through the venue.
Any tickets purchased directly from the venue may be a higher cost and will be separate from the school field trip.
NON-ENROLLED SIBLINGS
Non-enrolled siblings may attend field trips (provided there are no age restrictions for the particular field trip/venue).
Siblings between 2-4 years old -- Tickets must be purchased on the FTE site.
Siblings under 2 -- If there is a ticket cost for children under 2, the tickets must be purchased directly from the venue.
Please be sure to check the field trip details carefully regarding any age restrictions for the particular field trip before booking!
COVID GUIDELINES
Field trips are considered an extension of the school, and therefore we are required to follow local county and state COVID guidelines, in addition to the venue's COVID guidelines. Masks will be required for all indoor field trips or if the venue requires them.
If you or your student has a medical exemption from wearing a mask, we will require proof of the medical exemption. A face shield with a drape will be required in lieu of a mask for those with a documented medical exemption.
CANCELLATIONS/NO SHOWS
All field trip purchases are final. If you are unable to attend a field trip, please notify us in advance. We cannot provide refunds for cancellation requests or no shows.

Hi, I am a Mother of 4 sons, and grandma of 3 little ones. I learned about homeschooling about 5 years ago and I loved the whole concept. I homeschooled my youngest son and he loved it! I wish I had known this way of teaching when my other sons were little. I love helping families to thrive, and be successful! I am here to help you in any way I can.
