A Message from Ms. Ellison
Dear Glen Grove Community,
I hope that you are all enjoying the beautiful fall weather! We love getting the students outside and using the outdoor space for learning.
Our classrooms are well into their routines and first units of study in all areas. It is exciting to see innovative and engaging instruction happening across the school. Your children are doing a fantastic job as learners and members of our Gator community.
This month is Hispanic Heritage month. At Glen Grove we will be honoring this month by sharing and celebrating the contributions of the Hispanic/Latino community through our announcements and literature. This is an important time to honor and celebrate the diversity of our community.
The family/school partnership is incredibly important to the success of our school community. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions, comments, or concerns.
Thanks,
Kate Ellison
From the Nurse's Office
If you need any help or support during this difficult time of the pandemic, please do not hesitate to call Jennifer Hastings, RN, our Health Coordinator, at (847) 657-2394.
All student absences should be called into the health office no later than 7:45 a.m. at (847) 657-2394. The school has voicemail so parents can call the health office to leave messages at any time.
If your children come to school after 7:45 a.m. please have them come through the front office. This is for the safety of all of our students.
Picture Day Orders
Did you forget to order school pictures? Don't worry! Second Chance ordering information will be coming soon! And remember - Picture Retake Day will be on Friday, November 12.
News from the LRC
Library System: Destiny
Destiny (the library system) is now emailing students overdue and hold notices. Please make sure your child is checking his/her email each day. The system will automatically email overdue notices weekly. The check out period is 2 weeks with one renewal that students can do themselves from their Destiny accounts. If there is a hold on a title, the book cannot be renewed. We suggest that students finish their book as soon as possible and then return it.
Parents will be emailed overdue notices if a title is overdue more than 30 days. Glen Grove School Library does not charge fines. Hold notices will be emailed to students when a title is ready to be picked up and checked out just like at the public library. We ask that if a student no longer wants a hold to please email us or let us know in person so that we can put the title(s) back on the shelf for others to check out.
Author/ Illustrator Visit
On Friday, September 10, students in all three intermediate buildings in the district enjoyed a virtual visit with author Charise Harper and illustrator Rory Lucey. The students learned about the author and illustrator process for creating a graphic novel. We would like to thank the PTA for purchasing a copy for each classroom and 3 copies for the library. The students are going to enjoy reading the new graphic novel, Bad Sister.

News from the Westbrook + Glen Grove PTA
Hello Gator Families!
We've had a great start to the school year. Thank you so much for attending our meet-ups, purchasing memberships, and volunteering for parent teams! If we haven't reached out to you yet regarding your team we will do that soon. Our Membership Drive continues through the end of the month -- we're almost to our 200 member goal! No volunteering or meetings required as a member, it's just your show of support for what we do to enhance your student's experience (including assemblies, author visits, and LOTS more). Also be on the lookout for information about an **OCTOBER MEET UP** for your grade, which will be a great opportunity to connect with other families and have some fun. If you have not signed up for our weekly email please do because there is great information in there! To sign up for our email distribution or to learn more about WB/GG PTA please visit westbrookandglengrovepta.org
D34's Peachjar Digital Flyers share a range of community information, such as before + after school programming that might take place on-site at your school, online, or at a location in the Glenview area.
You will also see flyers from Glenview community non-profit organizations like the Glenview Education Foundation (GEF) and Debra Gelfand Children's Foundation, both of which serve D34 families and students directly.
PeachJar Digital Flyers are sent directly to your inbox so you can easily view the most current flyers every week.
If you have questions about programs or events, please use the contact information provided on the flyer. WB/GG PTA is providing access to the flyers here as a convenience for parents, however, we do not manage any of the programming.
Information about how to submit a flyer to D34's PeachJar Digital Flyer can be found at Glenview34.org
