Surrarrer's Scoop

Week of December 6

Winter Break Starts Friday, December 17!!!

A Message From Food Services

Did you know that students who pack their lunch can still receive FREE food items at school? Even if you are sending your student to school with food from home, they are still able to receive a fruit, vegetable, and milk for FREE! It's convenient and saves money for families - just pack the main item for lunch and let SCS Food Services take care of the rest!

Learning about Empathy

Since we are focusing on Empathy during Morning Meeting in the month of December, Surrarrer would like to create an opportunity for our students to not be a "bystander" and instead, show empathy to those less fortunate. As you can see, Student Council is doing a Hat & Glove Drive and Mrs. Sislowski is spearheading a donation drive for Malachi Center, a center that assist the homeless population (near the Westside) with hygiene needs.

Donations to this cause would be very much appreciated. All donations will be delivered to the center before we leave for Winter break. Please know donations are completely voluntary!

If you would like to learn more about the Malachi Center - please refer to this website. During Morning Meetings, students will learn more about empathy and how this ties in.

Classrooms will have a box for donations. Here are some items that are needed:

  • Toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Hand warmers
  • Combs
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Soap
  • Vasoline
  • Large zip lock bags
  • White Socks (adult sizes)

Hats & Gloves for Those in Need

It's that time of year when you need hats and gloves. So help us collect hats and gloves for kids in need. The Surrarrer Student Council will be collecting donations from Dec. 1st - Dec. 16th! Please drop your donation in the box located in the lobby!

Holiday Shop is Coming!

Don't forget the shopping starts December 8! Each child received a budget envelope (went home this week). The Penguin Patch budget envelopes allow for you and your child to select the amount of money they can spend on each person on their list. We love this school tradition!
*Cash or Check made payable to Surrarrer PTA only
