Parent Involvement Opportunities

Our final Campus Decision Making Committee Meeting will be on Tuesday, May 9 at 4:15 pm at Alta Vista Elementary. Parents and family members are welcome to attend and provide their input on goals for the next school year.

The week of May 20 will be a BUSY week! We will have a BOGO (Buy One Get One Free) Bookfair happening all week! Tuesday, May 21 and Wednesday, May 22 we will be hosting student-led parent conferences for grades 4 & 5. Parents may schedule a late conference (if needed) for May 21 until 6 pm.

On Tuesday, May 21, we will have a PreK/Kindergarten Showcase. Students will perform at 6:00 pm and then the PK/Kinder teachers will host activities from 6:30-7:00 pm.

Field Day will take place on Friday, May 24. Look for a schedule coming soon.

End of Year Awards will take place on Tuesday, May 28 through Thursday, May 30. We will send out a schedule for awards as well.

Look out for monthly reading challenge every month. Students can complete the monthly challenge to earn a FREE BOOK!

Tips for Parents

Parenting is tough work! I (Mrs. Helton) have a two-year old daughter and a five-year old son. When I get home, I want to enjoy two perfect little angels. Rarely does that happen. They are tired, cranky, and want my undivided attention (even though there's dinner to prepare, laundry to do, and homework to finish). I get frustrated, and I have to remember to breathe. Here are some tips that I find helpful, and maybe you will too.
