Buckskinner Rendezvous Field Trip - We NEED Chaperones!

We are in serious need of chaperones for this field trip. Currently only one parent chaperone has volunteered for this field trip and we need 3-4. If you are able and willing please contact me about attending this field trip! My contact information can be found at the bottom of this webpage.

Your child will have the opportunity to purchase items at the Buckskinner Rendezvous. If you would like, please send your child with no more than $5.00 in spending money on the day of the field trip.

Track Day

4th and 5th graders are expected to participate in Track Day on Wednesday, May 25th. Our students have been working hard to practice their track skills during phy ed and recess time. On this day, please make sure your child wears tennis shoes and athletic clothes. Since the 4th grade track meet is in the morning your child will need to bring with them a healthy snack and water bottle (no soda, juice, or gatorade).

Spring Concert

The spring concert will begin at 6:30pm on Tuesday, May 24th. Please have your student arrive by 6:15pm and meet in the commons of FAHS.

Unable to come the night of the show? Come see your student shine during the rehearsal! The rehearsal will begin at 1:15pm at the FAHS.

This Week...

Everyday Math

Our final math test went home with students this Wednesday. For the remainder of the school year your child will be grouped with other fourth graders to work on skills that are appropriate for their level. This differentiation will help all our students be successful in fifth grade.

Reader's Workshop

This week students have begun learning about the genre of science fiction, while completing an author study on Jon Scieszka (author of The Stinky Cheese Man, The True Story of the Three Little Pigs, and more!). Our students have really been enjoying this unit and learning about all the fun characteristics that this genre is made up of.

**Ask your child...What is a characteristic of science fiction? (aliens, outer space, magic, balance between good and evil)

Writer's Workshop

Students have begun writing in the genre of science fiction this week. Students have completed a story map and a story mountain to detail what is going to happen in their story.

**Ask your student...Which invention did you choose to use in your story? What is the conflict and resolution?

Social Studies

In social studies this week our students worked together to act out parts of our government. We elected students in our class to serve as our Supreme Court Justices and Senators. Each group shared bills they would like to turn into laws for our classroom. Below is a list of the laws that were passed:

  • Assigned seats at the carpet
  • 10 minutes once a week of extra recess time
  • Class Monitor (someone that checks to make sure all jobs are completed)
  • Pledge of Allegiance every morning - not just Mondays
  • Wear pink on Tuesdays
  • Checking out an additional book from our classroom library

Next week Thursday will be our U.S. Physical Map test. Please use the link below to help your child study.
