Lucie Manette
A Tale of Two Cities
Character Analysis
Lucie Manette, the daughter of Doctor Manette, was raised in England. She was raised a ward of the Tellson's bank because of the assumed thought that her parents were dead, when in reality, her father had been in prison for her entire life. She is often referred to as the "golden thread" because of her desire to get and keep her family together. Her attitude toward people and life allows the major change to occur in Sydney Carton's life, making him into a hero.
