Penngrove Press
August 11, 2021
Tonight I received a "welcome back to school" email from the preschool my son starts later this month. It was the most friendly, loving, information filled welcome ever, and yet halfway through reading it, I found myself slowly starting to panic.
No peanut butter?
All the kid eats is PBJ!
Masks outdoors?
Can he do it?
Sunscreen, pull-ups, water bottles, lunches....
Deep breaths, Fadeji.
And while I continued to read this welcome letter, I reminded myself that I chose this school because I believe in it. I believe in the leadership, the staff, the philosophy, the whole package. I love the location, the way the learning spaces are decorated, the care that goes into welcoming each family, the list goes on.
When I got to the end of the welcome letter, I took a deep breath, and I thought of you. I reminded myself that this is where the rubber meets the road. This is where I take a piece of my own advice that I've been dishing out with ease for the past decade. This is where I give myself a moment to feel all the feelings, and then I lean in, and I trust.
So tonight, I want to say to each of you, thank you for trusting #TeamPenn. Thank you for taking deep breaths when you read our newsletters, thank you for acknowledging your feelings and then leaning in. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, opinions, worries and everything in between with us. Thank you for being vulnerable, and honest, and raw. And most of all, thank you for believing in us.
You have my sincere commitment that we will continue to try our absolute hardest to make your child's experience at Penngrove the very best possible. Your kids are our greatest joy and each day, they shine bright.
With love,
Amy
