Monday Memo
Week of September 19
From your AP
We made through another successful Boosterthon! Thank you for all your help with encouraging your students to participate. I also really appreciate each and everyone of you, but especially my bus rider teachers. I know it's been long and hot out there, but with out you we could not have gotten everyone home safely each day. Transportation continues to work with us and buses have been coming early the last couple of days and we are hoping this continues!
Inventory check out will be happening soon. I will place directions in your mailboxes soon and you can check out all the items in your classrooms to yourselves. Doing this is very important and helps us keep track of everything in a huge school with a lot of movement!
Second grade will be taking a reading interim soon. We will give the test the week of September 26th. More information will be coming.
Kindergarten should be wrapping up there FLKRS next week and KRT by September 30. Please see Theresa or me if you need any assistance.
Our school-wide Science Olympics competition is set for October 5 from 6-8 pm.
Have a great week and GO TIGERS!!
2nd Grade Scientists trying out their paper airplanes!
Had an incredible time helping these teachers launch their STEM Unit of Study!
Mrs. Addison and the "Good News Call of the Day"!
From your Guidance Counselor
Guidance lessons are going well with explaining how we can use the 4 C's of STEM to problem solve. I can tell students have heard you talking about the 4 C's of STEM in class because they are so eager to participate.
Our Make & Take will be Wednesday, 9/21/16, at 4:00 in the media center. We will be making calm down bottles. Just bring your own water bottle and the color glitter you want to use. Mrs. Finnegan is allowing us to use any glitter she has-- thank you Mrs. Finnegan!!
PBIS team is meeting on 10/5/16 at 4:00 in the lower campus media center.
** Please remember that Tiger Stripes should be handed out for students in uniforms and students who are to class on time.
* Extra Tiger Stripes should be handed out throughout the day to reiterate positive behaviors and those behaviors defining our TIGER expectations.
* If you would like to tweet pictures displaying PBIS behavior, please use the hashtag #hcpspbis- district is watching!

News from the Media Specialist
This week library lessons kick off! I will be seeing Kindergarten students for their official intro to myON and 2nd graders will be learning the features of our library catalog CyberCat. It will take about two weeks for me to see all K & 2nd grade classes. So 1st & 3rd grade, your time for lessons will be approaching shortly. Stay tuned!
Starting this week, students will be recognized in the Media Center on the Reading Scoreboard for their myON reading (for Kinder once they've all logged in) or AR reading (for 1st-3rd). Continue working on your AR procedures and reach out to me if you need support in that. Top readers from last week:
1st grade: Diya Pulicherla reading 6,684 words
2nd grade: Sozan Alsaidi reading 9,114 words
3rd grade: Luke Dostal reading 576,734 words
Don't hesitate to reach out to me with specific requests for library instruction. Also, as you begin your STEM units, I am here to partner with your mini teams on planning, locating resources and implementing activities.
