Greetings Parents!
We have made it through one full month of school, and it is because of your partnership and support. We appreciate you! To keep you connected and informed, we will continue our monthly Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) meeting, every first Tuesday of the month. Our first PTO meeting for this year will be held on Tuesday, October 6th at 5:00 pm. Please join us to hear information regarding our Title I program offerings, budget items, and a segment from the PTO board members. Click this link to access the meeting.

(Pre-K) has 100% participation with Class Dojo
(Pre-K) has 75% daily participation with Ignite Hatch Learning Program
(K) has 98% participation with Class Dojo, almost ALL families connected!
(K) 100% of students have been zooming on ZOOM and love engaging in class! We are now navigating NearPod interactive live lessons!
Grade 1
First Grade students are rock stars.

🎉 Second graders are off to a Great start with this new virtual school year. All students are working hard in reading, math, science, and social studies. 🎉

🐼 Students in Ms. Daniels and Ms. Brown’s class had an opportunity during science to view the Panda Cam at the DC Zoo. We will continue to take a look at the Panda Cam and watch the new baby grow up throughout the school year. 🐼

Grade 3

Grade 4
Our Fantastic Fourth Graders are doing a great job in our new Virtual Learning Classroom. Thank you, students - continue to work hard and do your best. Thank you, parents - your support is phenomenal. Thank you, 4th Grade Team - you go above and beyond what is expected every day. Stay encouraged.

Richardson/Wright’s class:
N. Richardson - she is very engaged in each lesson taught, and eager to answer all questions. and shows up every day excited about learning. She is a great helper and she keeps the teachers on point.
M. Thompson - she shows up every day ready to learn and participate; she has a super support system, which helps her and the teachers do their best; and she is so excited, she doubles her attention in what is being taught.
Ratchford/Jones/Taylor’s class:
D. Mejia-Umana - is off to a great start; in this short period of time, he has shown great enthusiasm for school and regularly provides suggestions on how to make learning fun.
M. Garcia-Rubio - has been an awesome student this month, she helps students navigate our online programs, she arrives to class on time, attends sessions throughout the day, and asks follow-up questions to ensure that she has met all expectations. Congratulations for going above and beyond.

Grade 5
🏫Off to a great start - Thank you to all parents and students for your hard work and commitment to education! Our 5th grader scholars are learning patiently through distance learning! Kudos to all our 5th-grade students for your hard work and dedication!

R. Crowder:
Randy is a perfect attendance early bird! He has been a great teacher helper! He always participates in classroom discussions! He is a great example for his classmates because he treats his teachers and his peers with care and respect!
I. Owens:
Iyanna is a rock star! She has been demonstrating her leadership skills during small groups as one of the amazing 5th grade Deans! She participates in class everyday and she’s always on time and ready to learn for all of her classes!
🚌 October Virtual Field Trips on Wednesdays:
Grade 6
Mr. Sims, Ms. Smith-Johnson, & Mrs. McCoy would like to give a shout out to the Best 6th Grade Class ever!!!!
Math: Most 6th grade students keeping up with their math assignments. Although they might have to be reminded and given additional examples, they get the job done!
RELA: The 6th Grade Quarter Theme is “Animal Allies” How do humans and animals relate? The students are working on writing Objective Summaries for many informational(non-fiction) texts.
- Science: 6th grade Science has been building up a fascination with asking questions, making predictions, and learning how animals along with plants are essential in the food chain and how they make up different ecosystems.
Self-Contained Autism
The Self Contained Team is super excited about all of the hard work and enthusiasm from the students and parents during distant learning! We will continue to partner with our parents to problem-solve every step of the way! Teamwork makes the dreamwork!!!!!

Self Contained ABCs for success During Distant Learning-
Attend- Have students attend virtual learning every day.
Be prepared- Please make sure students have their classroom materials ready for learning (i.e. journal, pencil, counters)
Connect and communicate- with your child’s teacher to problem solve
- Shape of the Month - Have your student decorate the shape of the month with fall items. Discuss what you like about Fall as a family. Directions: Make a copy to complete digitally or download as a PDF to print.

Science @ The Seat
Science @ The Seat is every Wednesday at 2:00.
Science @ The Seat is an enrichment session that offers live and pre-recorded lessons that inspire students to think and act like scientists. Students Pre-K through 6 grade will be engaged in hands-on activities.
Session links are provided through the grade-level Google classrooms. Students will need materials to participate.

School Counselor's Corner
October is bullying prevention month.
We will be studying kindness, equity, and diversity throughout the month. Stay tuned for some exciting celebrations to come.
Attendance Matters!
We want to make sure that every student is able to succeed during this time of distance learning. Please be sure your child is logging on and completing assignments daily. If you experience challenges with technology please communicate with your child’s teacher so that we can support you.
Testing Tips
Seat Pleasant ES has finished the first round of virtual testing in grades 3-6 thanks to all of the diligence from our teachers, students, and parents. We were able to work out many of the tech issues. Kudos to you!

Students in Kindergarten-Grade 2 will take a reading fluency assessment using the NWEA application. More information is to come.
