A Message from the Principal
This past Thursday and Friday afternoons, our teachers spent time making adjustments to our virtual learning plan in order to better serve our at-home learners and streamline some of the ways instruction is distributed to our students. These changes will go into effect on Monday and will help ensure success for both teachers and students.
One adjustment that was made is that we now have teachers designated to our virtual on-level and accelerated Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Freshman through Senior English classes. This will help to create uniformity in regards to expectations for our virtual students and give them a teacher who is better versed in how to best serve at-home learners.
For our students who are taking Honors, AP, Dual Credit, and On-Ramps classes, expectations to be more synchronous will be communicated by teachers. To gain credit in a course that provides college credit, or is designed to prepare students for a college type class, a level of rigor is necessary where students need more opportunities for direct instruction and interaction with an instructor. If a teacher deems it necessary for a student who is taking one of these upper level courses to be more synchronous in order to optimize success, the teacher will communicate that with his/her students and create a Google Meet for students to join the class synchronously.
CTE teachers trained on a digital learning platform called Edmentum. Many CTE classes will start utilizing Edmentum for their virtual students this week. Students will receive links and login information in Google Classroom for these CTE courses.
In order to create virtual teachers for our math and science classes we had to fold several class sections for our in-person learners. This will result in schedule changes for some of our in-person learners. We will try to keep students with their original teachers where possible when finalizing schedule changes.
