Great Week!

Our first Spotlight visit of the year was a success! Thank you to all who organized, offered your classroom and were part of the visit. Lincoln-Erdman staff mentioned that they wish they more time and found the visit very beneficial.

Dr. Sheehan mentioned that in his memory this is only the third time Dr. Tony Evers visited a school in the SASD. Truly a reflection of the hard work and dedication all of you give to Grant School. My favorite outcome from the DPI visit was quote by Dr. Evers' in the Sheboygan Press, "This school in particular was fun to visit because they have such a diversity of kids and really want this school to be family — and you can tell. Any classroom you go into they act as a family.”

I have included links to the articles on the Grant Links page and photos from Nicole Sondalle at the bottom of the newsletter along with a fun video trailer of the event.

The color printer in the computer lab has been going through quite a bit of ink. Most of it is due the printing of items for the parent involvement, which was the responsibility of the office. But we do seem to have high volume of printing occurring both in and out of the building (items sent downtown). I fully support printing items that are needed for instruction and student creations.

However, I wanted to communicate early enough reminding everyone that we do have a limited budget for printing. If we can be cautious of what we allow students to print, especially in color, it will help us maintain a budget throughout the rest of the year. Please try your best to monitor your use of all printing so we can utilize funds in other instructional areas. If you have specific questions feel free to stop in or email.

After break we will have another meeting for those interested in helping support technology use at Grant. We did have a production meeting last Thursday. If you are interested, I will include a date in next week's newsletter.

One resource you may find interesting is a digital student portfolio called Seesaw. It seems very user friendly and has some great ideas for capturing student learning.
