Miscellaneous Information
Communication From DLT
- Safety & Security-we talked about the importance of all staff wearing their badge. This is a district expectation, please wear it & you can flaunt your new lanyards(thanks to PIT crew)
- Sept. 20....ALL staff Strategic Plan Kick Off at the Pepsi Center. We will ride busses there....start thinking about ways we can pimp our busses out- I think there will be prizes for school spirit and fun so let's represent! (we will have water, snacks, and someone will be DJ). Wear your school spirit shirts! (More information to come. As soon as I know more, I will let you know!)
- Attention PE and Health Teachers....please print and review these 2 documents. Basically- no outside company should teach any sex ed classes and DCSD will not teach pregnancy outcome options.
- Code of Conduct....Shelley, Sandra, and I will be coming around to talk about behavior expectations (good and bad) to each room. We will send a separate email with times/days.
Responsive Classroom Reminders
I'll be sharing ideas each week for the first few weeks of school. These ideas are Responsive Classroom practices. Click here to review the seven principles of Responsive Classroom.
First weeks of school:
- Read aloud books to spark Hopes and Dreams
- Model and Practice common classroom procedures
- Model and Practice school-wide and community procedures including showing expectations in the cafeteria, hallways and bathrooms.
- Tour the school with students reviewing expectations
- Model and Practice “Take a Break”
Use the 4:1 positive/negative interaction ratio
Modeling: Remember to be very explicit in your modeling of expectations. Once the expectations are taught, modeled and practiced it is our job to hold students accountable to the high expectations! Begin as you mean to go.
