El Dorado Monday Memo
Week 1 August 19th, 2019
#ToroFamily
Thank you all for a great first couple of days! It was a great start to what is going to be an awesome year. It was so good to see everyone going through our #First21Days slide deck and talking to the kids it is already sticking with them. We even heard some of them walking through the hall singing the R-E-S-P-E-C-T song (thanks Julie). We are going to be updating the slide deck for each day this week. Monday is Responsibility. Thank you for your patience as we work through all the inevitable tweaks of scheduling. We know a couple of classes are still over and we will be working hard to get those balanced this week (SHOUT OUT to GEMMA!). Remember we are still on SUPER DUTY this week with everyone out before and after school. Please check below for the updates for the week. Have a great week!
Some key points from our first few days together to keep in mind...
- Relationships are vital: Assume the Best/What's the invisible subtitle
- Procedures are the tracks the train of content runs on
- We must continually polish the tracks. Teach or polish 2+ procedures every hour.
- We need to help our students realize the power of choice.
FIRST FULL WEEK OF SCHOOL REMINDERS
- Warm Body counts will still be going during 3rd period
- #First21Days Slidedeck can be found here
- We are still on SUPER DUTY. All staff members out both before and after school.
- No tardies the first four days of school
- If a student is in your class and is not on the roster send them to the office.
Student Log-Ins:
The default passwords for all student accounts have been reset. The password convention is the same standard as last year (first initial of first name + first initial of last name, + perm ID (for example, jw5087770), and all students will be prompted to choose their own password upon first login. There was a memo that went out earlier this week in regard to some grade levels not having their passwords reset, but due to unforeseen circumstances, all passwords have been reset. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

AVID Weekly...
This Week in AVID August 19, 2019
It is so exciting to be starting our first full week of school! These next few weeks are all about community building and relational capacity in our classrooms. I will be sharing several AVID community-building activities in the coming weeks. I have done the Blanket Name Game with middle and high schoolers with success.
