Ms. Harris' Weekly Update
November 14th-18th
What's Going On This Week
- Ms. Harris' Science: This week we are starting Lesson 3 on Classifying Animals and Lesson 4 on Animal Life Cycles. Our quiz over these won't be until after Thanksgiving break.
- Ms. Shipp's Social Studies: This week we are finishing up on our unit on colonies. Study should work on study guide in preparation for the test on Friday.
- Ms. Thurston's ELA/Math: This week in math we are finishing 2x2 multiplication and quizzing on Wednesday. This week we will continue researching for our Expert Exhibit!
In reading we will review main idea. Spelling test Friday! We have started the book Wonder – ask your kids about it. :)
- Ms. Harris' ELA/Math: This week in anticipation for Thanksgiving, we will be learning about modern-day pilgrims, by reading "Molly's Pilgrim" in class. We will also be organizing our Expert Exhibit research in preparation for writing our research paper. There is no spelling this week but the students do have their Word of the Day quiz on Friday. In math, students will take their quiz on 2x2 digit multiplication today and apply that knowledge to a problem-based learning project.
Spirit Night November 15th 5-8pm
Tomorrow night is spirit night at Blacow Burger! Please come out and show your support for our school!
Expert Exhibit December 16th
Research has been going wonderfully for our Expert Exhibit project! The actual Exhibit will be on December 16th and will be open for parents from 1:00 pm - 1:30 pm. Remember the students need a costume and/or prop by 12/16 for the presentation!
Operation Christmas Child
This past week my GT class has been collecting items for Operation Christmas Child. Homeroom students are welcome to join in! We will be collecting small toiletries and items to fill the boxes. The boxes will be sent to children in need all over the world during the holiday season. We will be collecting for boys and girls ages 5-9. This is not mandatory, but if students would like to get involved, they are definitely welcome! All collections are due by this Friday, November 18th.
Other Information:
- The Winter Chorus Musical will be November 29th. The 4th and 5th grade chorus will be performing for the school at 1:30 pm and at 6:30pm for family and friends!
- The last day of the quarter is November 21st! This year is flying by!
- Upcoming Dates:
- December 19th is the GT Tacky Sweater/Ice Cream party! More information to come!
- December 20th will be our Homeroom Holiday party! More information to come!
- December 21st will be a half day and pajama day!
