New School Year
By Arelis Alvarez
Getting To Know The Teacher!
My name is Arelis Alvarez and this is my third year as a fifth grade teacher. I attended and graduated from Rowan University with a dual major in Elementary Education and Spanish. I enjoy working as a bilingual teacher because I am able to help many children to improve their English. This is my second year here at Washington Elementary. I was previously working at Robinson Elementary.
About The Class
This is one of the two fifth grade classes here at Washington Elementary. I give pride to my students and commend them for their work. When I see students put effort into expanding their knowledge, I give them a reward. It is my personal mission to help each student to better understand English. With that being said, ¡bienvenido!
Important Dates
Book Report Due
A three page book report is due on October 12th. Students will be able to pick between three books that will be announced the second week of class.
Philadelphia Zoo
I will be teaching the class more about the food web and how it is crucial to the environment. We will be doing many activities and at the end of the lesson, we will be taking a trip to the Philadelphia Zoo. If any parents are interested to chaperone, you are more than welcomed. The trip date is October 26th.
Thanksgiving Break
I will assign a packet with a few pages with lessons that were taught in class. The purpose of this is for students to refresh their memories and will come prepared after Thanksgiving break. The break will start November 23rd and class will resume November 27th.
