Technology (iPad) Information
Campus Mobile Portal and Schoology Mobile Apps
Parents and guardians can use the Campus Mobile Portal or Schoology app installed on the iPad to view their child’s grades, attendance, and upcoming assignments. This year SPPS is transitioning to using Schoology as a tool to house course materials, support communication, and record grades. Grade information may not be available to parents of elementary school children through these apps.
Email Communications
Parents may also use the Safari browser app to log in to their personal email account to send emails to their child’s teacher(s). Parents and guardians should not add a personal email account to the iPad’s built-in Mail app because personal emails may be visible to anyone who accesses the device.
Pad Care and Proper Use
- Always keep the iPad in the case.
- Keep keyboard attached to case unless necessary for photographing or similar activity.
- Close keyboard cover and carry with two hands- clutched to chest, carry like a book, or zip securely into a backpack.
- Walk with your iPad and do not carry iPad inside folder or trapper keeper.
- Keep away from water or a heat source and do not leave in a cold or hot car.
- Keep food and beverages away from your iPad.
- Make sure keyboard cover is closed and put in sleep mode.
Comcast Internet Essentials Free Through December
Comcast provides basic wireless Internet called Internet Essentials, and it is free through December. The district will provide a Hotspot, but if you are finding that isn't enough data or you are unable to wait for a ticket to be completed, contact Comcast to apply https://www.internetessentials.com/. If Comcast does not extend the free price after December, you'd have the option to quit when it is no longer free or pay the $9.95/month + tax.

ATHLETICS UPDATE:
Please see the district update below regarding Middle School Sports.
SPPS RESPONSE REGARDING MIDDLE SCHOOL SPORTS
Saint Paul Public Schools has had to make several difficult decisions about what programs we are able to safely offer this fall during a continuing COVID-19 pandemic. One of those decisions was around middle school sports. Several challenges, including staff availability, transportation, student safety and participation levels in middle school sports, make SPPS unable to offer any middle school sports this fall.
It is also possible that we will not be able to offer middle school sports if and when SPPS transitions to a hybrid learning model, due to the same challenges listed above. SPPS will reassess this decision each season to determine if we are able to offer middle school sports this winter or spring.
We understand how hard this decision may be on our middle school students and families, and hope to be able to offer extracurricular activities as soon as it is possible for us to do so. Thank you for your support of SPPS and your students. If you have additional questions, please contact your school’s athletic director.
Supporting our Athletes: As the Athletic Director I want to provide an opportunity for our student athletes to connect with each other while we are distance learning. During our Friday student group opportunities, I will be offering a Google Meets for our student athletes. Updates with a Google Meets code will go out to all of the Ramsey students via Schoology on Friday mornings! Please encourage your student athlete to attend these Google Meets if they are interested in connecting and participating with other student athletes at Ramsey. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Email: Alicia.Ekegren@spps.org
