GCPS Meal Service Upates
As we prepare for the last day of school on Wednesday, May 26, Gwinnett County Public Schools would like to remind families about the last days of meal service for this school year.
Elementary and Middle Schools
- At GCPS elementary and middle schools, meals for in-person learners and curbside pickup will continue through the last day of school (May 26).
- Limited distribution of meals to digital learners by bus will end on Friday, May 21.
High Schools
- Curbside pickup of meals at high schools will end on Friday, May 21.
- Limited distribution of meals to digital learners by bus will end on Friday, May 21.
- High school cafeterias will provide breakfast only on high school exam days, May 24–26.
Summer Food Resources and Assistance
- Gwinnett County Public Schools: Information regarding meals during summer school and the K-8 Summer Enrichment and Acceleration program will be communicated with participating families. However, all GCPS families can take advantage of the curbside pickup service for children ages 18 and younger. The meals—both breakfast and lunch—will be provided at 27 middle schools from June 14 to July 2 between 11 a.m. to noon on weekdays. (All middle schools will participate except Five Forks MS and Jones MS, which are undergoing construction.)
- Gwinnett County Community Services is offering free grab-and-go breakfasts and lunches at 25 locations. Curbside pick-up of nutritious meals is for 18 years or younger or those 19 years of age or older with a physical or mental impairment. Click here for a list of county locations and additional information. (https://www.gwinnettcounty.com/web/gwinnett/departments/communityservices/parksandrecreation/gwinnettsummermeals)
- Gwinnett Cares is another resource for families seeking food resources and assistance this summer, available at https://gwinnettcares.org/need-help/individual/food/.
- Families also can find food resources and help with housing and utilities through United Way’s 2-1-1 Contact Center. Learn more at https://www.unitedwayatlanta.org/need-help/.

Help us celebrate #GCPSStrong!
The 2020–21 school year has been a successful, yet challenging year for Gwinnett County Public Schools. GCPS employees and our families have worked together to show that together we are #GCPSStrong. We hope that students, employees, and community members will take the opportunity to go online to say “thank you” and express their appreciation and encouragement to GCPS staff members.
Move Up Day
*If you have been contacted by Mrs. Raiya Troshin, Parsons student data manager, to provide documents/proof of residency and you have not submitted these documents, your child will not be placed on a class list and will report to the Media Center during Move Up Day activities.
- Ms. Mary Sheets will be transferring to us from Minor Elementary School as a 2nd grade teacher. She will be replacing Ms. Sydney Russell who has decided to pursue graduate studies in Social Services/Counseling at the University of Georgia. We will truly miss Ms. Russell, but we are so excited for her.
- We would also like to welcome Mr. Jim Asztalos to our 4th grade team. Mr. Asztalos will be transferring from Baggett Elementary School where he is currently a gifted teacher.
- Mrs. Apryl Patterson will be joining our 5th grade team. She is coming from Benefield Elementary School and has 17 years of experience in 5th grade.
- Mrs. Joannie Baltimore, who retired from GCPS last year, joined our team part of the year and served as a gifted/EIP part time teacher. She will be taking on retirement again and we wish her the best.
- Mrs. Katie Coskun, who came to us in March, will be taking a teacher position at Cedar Hill Elementary. Cedar Hill is gaining an amazing teacher. We wish her the best!
- Mrs. Lauren Norman will be joining us as a part time gifted teacher next year. She currently teaches gifted part time at Simpson Elementary.
- Mrs. Molly Smith will be returning to Parsons as a part time ESOL teacher.
- Mrs. Eungi Joung will also be returning to support our Korean DLI program.
It is hard to say goodbye to those leaving, but they will always be a part of the Parsons Team. As we welcome new team members next year, please be sure to give them a warm welcome! We have shared with each of them what a wonderful community we have here at Parsons.

As we start to think about 2021/2022, we need co-chairs for some of our committees for next school year. Please see the SignUp Genius link below if you are interested in taking on any of these committees. Thank you!
