Forgotten Books

For the month of May, forgotten books were on display. These were books that hadn't been checked out in a number of years. So sad! Many students rescued books from their loneliness.

We're Almost at the End...

So please encourage students to bring back their library books! Starting Monday, June 8th, there won't be anymore library check-outs for the remainder of the year. The last day to return library materials (for both students and faculty) will be June 12th. Please help us out by making sure all projects that might involve library books have concluded by then. Remind students that after the 12th they will need to bring a book from home or borrow a book from the Dedham Public Library for silent reading.

Hurrah!

It's almost time for summer reading! The DMS Summer Reading website is up (see link below). Rising 9th graders should visit the DHS Summer Reading page for more information about their program. If you need PDF copies of any of the reading lists, please let me know.

8th Grade

In Library Research, 8th grade students reviewed how to evaluate websites. They read URLS, examined the content, asked about the author, and looked at the links to determine if a website was good for research or not.

Students then began preparing for their end-of-the year research project. Students watched several Ted Talks on young people having an impact on the world. 8th graders wrote about what changes they'd like to see in their communities, and then began exploring these ideas. Eventually, this will lead students to choosing a specific topic to focus on for their annotated bibliography.
