Welcome!
Welcome to my school newsletter! This is where you will find information about my role in your child's math education, how my time with your child is structured, strategies for supporting your child's math learning, and all things North Elementary math!
What is Title I Math Intervention?
Math Intervention is provided to students who qualify for support through a a mix of test scores and teacher referral. Intervention is provided in addition to the grade level mathematics taught in the classroom. Direct Instruction occurs in groups of no more than six students, where we work on filling the gaps your child has in mathematics.
After school Homework Hour
When and Where?
Homework hour is every Wednesday and Friday of the school year for 4th graders. This is held in the North Elementary library from 3:30 - 4:30. A certified teacher helps and monitors students at work. An adult is responsible for picking up the student at 4:30 by the library entrance.
Xtramath
This is a website dedicated to improving your child's ability to retrieve basic facts quickly and reliably. I am in the process of registering all the students that see me for math. This can and should be used once a day if possible. It helps them build one aspect of fluency. This is not for Kindergarten or First Grade as they are still developing number sense.
