CPU Middle School
Instructional Coach-Dilyn McNeill-Week of November 9
What is a Coaching Cycle?
Plan/Prepare- In the planning, or “before” session, the coach and the teacher(s) co-construct a lesson or unit based on the priority standards and on what elements the teacher would like incorporated in the lesson(s). Together, a plan is built.
Teach/Assess- The “during” is where the coach and the teacher see the lesson(s) carried out. This may involve: modeling, co-teaching, and observations.
Analyze/Reflect- "In the “after” session, the coach and the teacher reflect on the goals they co-constructed. Were the goals met? If not, what practices need to be strengthened to accomplish those goals? What could the teacher have done differently in order to achieve those goals?"
Are you ready for a coaching cycle?
What is Blended Learning?
Last Thursday I was able to attend a session on Blended Learning with Mr. Winterhof and three of the middle school teachers. There were also teams from the primary and intermediate building. The strategy is used to increase engagement in our students. The focus is "planning, pace, and place." It combines traditional learning with technology. If you would like to observe or try blending learning, in our building, get in touch with me and I will set you up a visit with one of our local experts.
