Grasslands are found on every continent except Antarctica.

General Characteristics

Temperate grasslands have a rich mix of grasses and forbs and underlain by some of the worlds most fertile soil. Since the development of the steel plow most have been changed to agriculture land.

Weather and Climate

Between 10 and 20 inches perception a year. Much of this falls as snow. Warm to hot summers are experienced depending on latitude.


Between 10 to 20 precipitation in a year some of that rain is snow. In temprate grasslands rainfall is about 10 to 30 percent of rain. This is not an exact photo of the rain percentage,but it is close. This is a photo of rain that the grassland does not get normally.


Some of the landforms in a grassland is hills, and slopes. The hills have trees on it and that is the only thing that normally has trees.this is a photo of hills that are in the grassland.


The animals that are in grasslands are Coyotes, Eagles, Bobcats, Gray Wolf, Wild Turkey, Fly Catcher, Caniadian Geese, Crickets, Dung Beetle, Bison, and Prairie Chicken. This is just some of the common animals that live in the grassland. This is a photo of an eagle that lives in the grassland.


Plants that are in grasslands are purple needle grass, wild oats, foxtail, ryegrass. That's just some of the plants in this grassland. This photo is of purple needle grass.


In the winter it can be as low as 40 degrease F and in the summer it can be as hot as 70 degrease F. It is supriseing to how hot it can get in the summer.
