Here's what's happening in MS this week!

Dear parents,
The 3rd marking period ends on March 8, 2019. All missing/late work needs to be turned in by this Friday, March 1.
ENGLISH
7th Grade: Congratulations to Jurgen and Patrick for advancing to the Regional Spelling Bee! Way to go gentlemen! We are starting to get back into a routine and have read the first 6 chapters of The Giver. We will continue reading this week. We have started a new chapter in our grammar book and will cover subject/verb agreement, compound subjects, and inverted sentences.
8th Grade: We just started chapter 10 in our grammar book and we will focus on subject/verb agreement, compound subjects, and inverted sentences. We have also made some progress reading The Outsiders and will read a few more chapters next week.
SOCIAL STUDIES
6th Grade: We will be continuing our study of Ancient Greece by learning about details of the culture and religion. We will also be reading about Greek gods and goddesses and the role they played in the daily lives of those living in Ancient Greece.
7th Grade: We will be continuing our study of Ancient Greece by learning about details of the culture and religion. We will also be reading about Greek gods and goddesses and the role they played in the daily lives of those living in Ancient Greece.
MATH
6th Grade: 6th graders finished their NWEA math last week. This week we continue to see how fractions, percents, and decimals are used in everyday situations. We will have a quiz at the end of the week.
7th Grade: The 7th graders will finish NWEA math testing on Monday. This week we begin to discuss cross sections and angles with a quiz at the end of the week.
8th Grade: The 8th graders will finish their NWEA math on Monday. This week we will continue with systems of equations with a quiz on Wednesday on elimination.
SCIENCE
6th Grade: We are done with NWEA science, but students are encouraged to keep practicing on IXL. We will be investigating the Periodic Table of Elements this week. We’ll be looking at how it’s organized and how to find important information about elements from it. Students will also be researching an element this week.
7th Grade: We are done with NWEA science, but students are encouraged to keep practicing on IXL. We are going to wrap up what we’ve learned about Continental Drift and Plate Tectonics this week. Students will be reviewing for a test on Friday.
8th Grade: We have the Willing to Wait program on Monday and Tuesday this week. Then we will be talking about the important changes during the history of life: characteristics and appearances of amphibians, reptiles, mammals along with all the mass extinctions that have occurred during this history. The quiz will be on Friday.
ART
8th Grade: We are working on creating an abstraction in watercolor inspired by Georgia O’Keffe. Our clay creations are drying and getting ready to fire so we can glaze them before the end of the week.
