Literacy Professional Development

Opportunities for Learning and CEU's 2015-16

New Licensure Requirements

As you may know, the state of North Carolina has revised the license renewal requirements for a Standard Professional II License. Standard Professional II licenses are valid for five years. To renew a SPII license, expiring June 30, 2016 and beyond, 8.0 CEUs per 5-year renewal cycle are required including the specific requirements as listed below:

All K-8 Teachers: 3 Literacy CEU's, 3 Academic CEU's

All 9-12 Teachers: 3 Academic CEU's

K-12 Student Support Personnel: 3 Academic CEU's

School Based Principals/APs/Curriculum Coordinators: 3 School Admin CEU's

Below are some opportunities you might not know about. For any PD outside of the KCS system, you will need to submit a certificate of completion and a paper evaluation for the course to Sherry Walter at Central Office. If it less than 10 contact hours (1.0 CEU), you will need to use a PD log to record the individual workshops/modules and submit an evaluation when they total 10 hours.
