SLCS District Update
February 9th, 2023
Superintendent's Update
Dear SLCS Families and Staff Members,
We are fortunate to have so many amazing teachers in our District. I am pleased to announce the following individuals who were selected as the SLCS representatives in the Oakland County Teacher of the Year Program:
Elementary School-Ashley Bentz-Hardy Elementary
Middle School-Leann Lambert-Centennial Middle School
High School-John Sadowski-South Lyon High School
Mrs. Bentz is a first grade special education teacher at Hardy Elementary. A parent said “One of the things I love about Ashley is she encourages independence, and you can tell that the look on her face says, "You can do it!" She is our kids' biggest cheerleader, and she really cares for them.”
Mrs. Lambert is a sixth grade teacher at Centennial Middle School. One of her colleagues said “Leann has continued to impress her co-workers. The passion and love she has for the job is so infectious and inspiring. She comes up with the most creative ways to work with students and engage them.”
Mr. Sadowski is a Technology and CAD teacher at South Lyon High School. A student said “Mr. Sadowski, the teacher, would not have left the impact he did if not for his efforts to be more than just a teacher. He always makes an effort to show he cares about students. During passing time, or even in-class work time, you will often find Mr. Sadowski having conversations with his students asking about their day, or following up on events going on in their lives."
The three honorees were selected from a list of distinguished SLCS teachers and are well-deserving of this recognition. I trust everyone joins me in offering our sincere “Thanks!” and “Congratulations!” to each of these outstanding teachers.
We are also excited to welcome two new staff members to the SLCS team: Mr. Dan Winther, Assessment Facilitator, started this week and Mrs. Christina Gray, Executive Director of Business and Finance, will begin the week of February 20th. Both individuals are filling existing positions and will be tremendous assets to the District.
SLCS Excellence!
