CLIMATE CHANGE

How does this affect the world?

What is climate change?

Climate change means the global changes with the patterns of weather/climate in the Earth. This can include things such as...

- Rise or drop in temperature

- Seasonal changes occurring too fast or slow

Polar bears, are they safe?

No, they are in great trouble right now because every day the ice is melting. There was a case which a polar bear sank and died. It was going across the waters and did not find a ice to take a rest. The polar bear was out of energy to swim and just sank down. This did not only happened once but it is keep happening every time or even every week.

When and where did climate change start? Why?

- Scientists predict climate change started occurring rapidly ever since people started forming societies and industrializing.

However, it was not too long ago when people actually discovered this scientifically.

- Climate change happened and is still happening all over the world, not in one specific region although some places are more highly affected than others.

- Climate change occurs because people are altering the environment to make more developments and life easier.

Who is causing climate change? (Greenhouse effect)

Us humans are the main causes of climate change. We are burning too much fossil fuel or other chemical things which produces the green house gas. The green house gas makes the Co2 stay in the atmosphere. When the Co2 stays in the atmosphere, it traps down the heat from the sun and makes the temperature go up.

What are the effects of climate change? (Environment)

- Loss of sea ice

- Accelerated sea level rising

- More intense heat/temperature rise

....which leads to:

- Animals losing their habitats

- Drought (less agriculture/plants)

- Land sinking

What are the effects of climate change? (Humans)

- Allergies (Respiratory illnesses) due to pollution

- Harder to adapt to new seasons

- Natural disasters affecting communities

- Heat related illness (Heat exhaustion)

Quotes about Climate Change

"Saving our planet, lifting people out of poverty, advancing economic growth...these are one and the same fight. We must connect the dots between climate change, water scarcity, energy shortages, global health and food security. Solutions to one problem must be solutions for all."

- Ban Ki Moon (United Nations Secretary General)

"The shift to a cleaner energy economy won't happen overnight, and it will require tough choices along the way. But the debate is settled, and climate change is a fact."

- Barack Obama (USA President)

NOTES!

- Climate change is the change of climate/weather patterns in the Earth.

- Greenhouse gases are mainly produced because of burning fossil fuels.

- Climate change causes:

Sea levels to rise

Temperature to rise

Icebergs to melt
