M.A.K.U. Soundsystem
Global Rhythms – 3 days
Genre: Folklore, Punk, Funk, Rock, Roots
Outreach Dates: May 11 - 13
Format: M.A.K.U. Soundsystem is an immigrant band now hailing from New York City, sharing their powerful performance lineage with the Asheville community through music that combines authentic Columbian Folklore and Caribbean grooves. Sound system brings their unique collaborative way of life to each performance, as well as to this workshop, where students will learn about the immigrant experience, the power of art in the lives of everyday people, and the “D.I.Y.” lifestyle involved in composing and performing music.
