Principal's Update: June
Hello Rawson Community!
Time flies! It is hard to believe that there are just days remaining in the 2021-22- school year!
As we wrap, I wanted to express my gratitude for the opportunity to join the Rawson School community (way back) in August. I have found a home here at Rawson and I could not be more proud of what we accomplished this year!
Although it was a difficult year, we all persevered in ways that may have previously seemed unimaginable! We were able to bring back many of the engaging aspects we love about school... in essence, our "school spirit".
A huge THANK YOU goes out to our entire Rawson staff. They work tirelessly to ensure our students are safe and that learning continues throughout the ups and downs of the school year. Additionally, I want to offer up a special THANK YOU to our families! Your support throughout the year is so important to the learning lives of our students.
I can't emphasize enough that I look forward to healthy and happy 2022-23 school year! Enjoy the remaining days left and have a wonderful and restful summer!
All the best,
Nick Anton

Classroom Spotlight! Bill Gaynor, 3rd Grade
Hello to all.
Over the years, Mr. Gaynor, his students, and a variety of staff volunteers have created Cancer boxes that are sent out to the oncology clinic at a local hospital. These packages contain "treasures", hand-made holiday decorations and student-created letters about how to beat the "bully" named Cancer. This year 23 boxes were created, bringing Mr. Gaynor's total to 173! We are incredibly proud of Mr. Gaynor and his 3rd grade all-stars!
June PTO Meeting Canceled
June's PTO Meeting scheduled for 6/2
has been canceled
That’s why students who usually get free or reduced price meals may be able to get temporary food benefits through the Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer program (P-EBT).
Volunteers at Rawson
Volunteers are once again welcome inside the building. All of our volunteers need to complete a background check to serve in the school, but that process is online and only takes a few days to clear. If you have an interest, please reach out to your student’s teacher to let him or her know, and feel free to suggest specific ways you’d like to help. We’re excited for the opportunity to have parents back in the school – not only for your help but for you to see the excellent education your student receives!
Speak Up, Speak Out Wisconsin
The School District of South Milwaukee partners with SPEAK UP, SPEAK OUT (SUSO) hosted by The Wisconsin Department of Justice. SUSO is a comprehensive, one-stop place to turn to with your concerns regarding school safety. A facet of the Resource Center that we are particularly pleased to share with Wisconsin students and parents is the threat reporting system. The SUSO threat reporting system is available 24/7 and is free to all. Students can submit a school safety concern by accessing the app on their Chromebook or by visiting speakup.widoj.gov. Resource Center staff work around-the-clock to respond to reports and to deploy a response locally by communicating directly with school administrators, law enforcement and counselors.
Traffic Reminder: Drop-off / Pick-up
-15th Avenue (West entrance)
-Rawson Avenue (East Playground-side entrance)
*Please make sure to obey all traffic and cross-walk laws at all times. SMPD will be patrolling the area during these high-density times to ensure everyone's safety.
WOLF OF THE WEEK WINNERS
Wolf of the Week is an internal school award which celebrates the demonstration of positive character traits by our Rawson students. Our awesome Rawson staff will be selecting a variety of students per week who have continually demonstrated the SM Way Character Traits of honesty, kindness, perseverance, responsibility, and respect.
(Please keep in mind, these winners are not an exhaustive list. We have many children who consistently demonstrate strong character throughout their school day!)
Congratulations to the following Rawson Wolves! 🎉
