Principal's Notes
Happy Holidays!
We have had a great time celebrating the holiday season at Adrian Elementary School. Monday, we kicked off the week by discussing our Mission for the week, “Treat Your Transporter”. A simple thank you to the people who safely get us to school and home from school on a daily basis is the focal point of the mission. Last week we recognized the importance of greeting people with “The Hallway Greet” mission. As we all know, it is the simple things that may make a big difference, therefore we will continue to promote missions that lead to positive actions.
Santa, a reindeer, and an elf also made an appearance on Monday morning in the school to kick off the holiday week. The Dragon Pride and school spirit displayed at the blast-off was outstanding, as the students really enjoyed the activity that the teachers and a few students were able to take part in to start the week.
Along with the holiday season, come days in which students will not be in school. Be intentional and informed about what your children are doing online. Here is a link to an updated list of apps you should be wary of if your children are using them. By being informed, we can work together to protect our children from the dangerous side of the internet and technological world.
From all of us here at AES, we wish you a happy, safe, and exciting holiday season!
Mr. Schettler
Congratulations!
Nurse Notes
When to keep your child home from school:
Cough: If your child is coughing so much that he/she is unable to participate in classroom activities or the cough will be a distraction in the classroom.
Fever: A fever is a sign of illness. A child with a temperature of 100 degrees or higher should not attend school. The child should be free of fever (without the aid of Tylenol or Ibuprofen) for 24 hours before returning to school.
Influenza or Influenza like illness: A student with the flu will be excluded with a fever of 100 degrees accompanied with cough/ sore throat until fever free without the aid of Tylenol/Ibuprofen for 24 hours. Also, please report if your child has these symptoms or is diagnosed with Influenza.
Strep throat: Child may return to school 12 hours after starting antibiotics and has not had a fever for 24 hours.
Reminder: Hand washing is the key to stopping the spread of illness.
If your child is sick, please keep them home.
Also, over the Christmas Break, would be a great time to wash all winter clothing and complete head checks.

0-5 Census Form
Every Minnestoa School District is required by law to maintain an annual birth – 5 year old census. This information is used by the Minnesota Department of Education to determine our District’s share of State Education dollars.
The Adrian School District will use these records to notify district parents about ECFE classes (Early Childhood & Family Education), Preschool Screening (starting at age 3) and Kindergarten Roundup held in the Spring (prior to school entrance).
Please visit our website at www.isd511.net to fill out a census form or call Adrian Elementary at 507.483.2225 for more details.
