CHILD FIND Can Help!
The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District (KPBSD) provides free screening for children 3 through 5 years old (not yet in kindergarten)
Areas screened include: speech and language, learning and understanding, coordination and movement, social-emotional skills, self-helping skills (feeding, dressing, and toileting), vision or hearing.
Children already identified with disabilities should also be screened if not receiving special education services through the district.
Please visit https://kpbsd.org/free-developmental-vision-hearing-screenings-for-preschoolers/ for more information.
KPBSD News
All Doors to School Will Now Be Locked
This school year, the KPBSD is requiring all elementary school doors to be locked during the academic school day. We understand this may be an inconvenience for some parents and staff, but the KPBSD holds school safety to the utmost level. As you know, the district is in the process of changing out traditional locking doors with electronic locking mechanisms. School principals can give you more information about this process.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Fishing Field Trip
We had a fantastic trip on Friday! Thank you to the guides for their expertise, time, and equipment: Dusty Byrd of Alaska Troutfitters, Mike Harpe of Kenai River Fly Fishing, Andrew Hemingway of Hemingway's Alaskan Adventures, and Zack Walters of Alaska Clearwater Sportfishing.
Beyond Van Gogh
We have purchased our tickets for Beyond Van Gogh. We will be going on September 22. Watch your email for details. Another permission slip will be sent home soon.
Volunteers
On occasion, we may need help transporting students other than your own on field trips, as we do not have a bus. If you are willing to help out, a background check is required. Please go to https://kpbsd.org/departments/assistant-superintendent/instructional-services/hr/volunteer/ to complete the form. Thank you in advance!
Fundraising Meeting
Please stay tuned for a special fundraising meeting coming soon. The Parent Advisory Committee met on August 18 and determined that we will need to do some fundraising this year as the PAC fund will be nearly depleted after skiing. We need everyone's ideas and participation. Thanks in advance!

Hope School Happenings
Hello Students and Parents,
Our Field trip to Beyond Van Gogh - SEPTEMBER 8TH 2022
The Immersive Experience is coming up quickly! Let’s make sure that we have enough parent drivers so that all of our students can enjoy this experience. If you plan on volunteering your time as a driver, please make sure that your volunteer application is completed and approved, and your vehicle has passed the vehicle safety check. The safety check is a quick checklist that any staff member can complete with you. It ensures there are enough seat belts for the number of occupants, the brake lights are working, etc. These safety measures are extremely important to keep all of our children safe. Thank you!!
It’s time to think about appropriate weather gear already!
We care about your child’s health and comfort and want to take this opportunity to share a reminder. Children will play outdoors daily unless air quality poor or the temperature is below -10 (wind chill factor included). Please make sure your student has appropriate gear for outdoor play so they may participate fully.
- Rain: raincoat and waterproof boots
- Snow: heavy coat, snow pants, snow boots, hat and mittens/gloves
Your Volunteer Status is key this year.
We would really like each and every parent to come in and visit with their child this year, participate in field trips and help out. Please sign up to volunteer so you can come participate, help out, join in and make a difference. Please do this as soon as possible because our field trip for Van Gogh is coming up soon. https://www.applitrack.com/kpbsd/onlineapp/default.aspx?Category=Volunteer+Screening+Process
Volunteers and Substitute Teachers: Hope School is always happy to have substitute teachers and volunteers. Opportunity is available for both positions currently. Please consider one or both positions https://www.applitrack.com/kpbsd/onlineapp/default.aspx?Category=Volunteer+Screening+Process
