From the Principal's Desk...
Dear Parents,
We have seen a mix of wintry weather this week. Weather forecasters are predicting extremely cold temperatures for next week. We understand that the weather may complicate the process of getting your child(ren) to school, so we will be flexible on arrival times if students are a little late. We appreciate everyone's patience with the carpool line as well. On very cold mornings, children know to immediately enter the building starting at 8:20 am to avoid frostbite. We will bring children into the auditorium until the regular 8:30am arrival bell when children can begin walking to class. Our school is a safe and warm place for the children on cold days and we look forward to welcoming them into the building each morning.
For recess, please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately. We go outside for recess if it is five degrees or above, including windchill. Please remind your child(ren) to bring the following items if they would like to play in the snow during recess. Of course, we keep children inside if it's too cold and/or slippery outside.
- Jacket
- Hat
- Gloves
- Snow pants
- Boots
As a reminder, tonight is Bingo Night here at Central School. This event is sponsored by the PTA and begins at 5:30pm. Please visit the PTA website for more information. I hope to see you there!

2019-2020 Registration for ALL NEW 1st Grade Students
We are watching our enrollment numbers for first grade very carefully for the 2019-20 school year. We currently only have three sections of kindergarten this year and we are hoping for four sections of first grade next year. As a result, we are expecting to add one section of classes for next year in first grade, but only if we have enough new enrollments. So if you have a current kindergartener in a private school this year, and you plan to send your child to Central for first grade next year, please contact our secretaries about your intent to enroll and register your child. Please email Cathy O’Reilly at oreillyc@wilmette39.org or Sallie Elman at elmans@wilmette39.org. Thank you!

From the Nurse's Office
Call Central School "Attendance Line" For Absences: 847-512-6150
Please call the Attendance Line to report absences even if you let the classroom teacher know, because some teachers don't see the email/voicemail until later in the day. Teachers assume you are calling the office. It's important that the school nurse is directly aware of any absences otherwise, your son/daughter may be considered "missing." The school nurse keeps track of all school absences in the building. For safety reasons, we want to make sure all of our students are accounted for and safe.
