Dunn's Corners School

Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe

June 10, 2022

Good afternoon DCS!

Congratulations to those graduating tonight from Westerly High School!

Yesterday, at 8:25 we had to make a decision regarding having school or cancelling. The determining factor was the phones went dead at 8:25 and that compromises student safety, especially in light of things happening in our country. I appreciated your support and patience. Safety comes first!

K/1 Fun Day is Monday, June 13 (Rain date June 15) It is forecasted to have rain on Monday so we will make a decision by 8:30 to move it Wednesday. If you do not hear from the school then it is on for Monday.

Please follow the news and check out the district's work in improving the buildings at the elementary level. Check out the website, https://ri01900035.schoolwires.net/Page/125.

Remember to go directly to your child's teacher for any questions, concerns, positive feedback, or for information about the school day.

We will be using #dcsanchors all over social media. Look for it on twitter, Facebook, and Instagram!

Have a great weekend!

Mr. Morrone, Proud Principal of DCS!

Attendance UPDATE

The realistic goal is to have less than 5% chronically absent, but ultimately 0%. Chronically absent is defined as being out 10% of the days in school. This data impacts our STAR rating. Currently, we are at 12% chronically absent.

For those who are chronically absent, Attendance Officer John Riley may visit your home to inquire about attendance.

Ready to Learn

Fourth Grade: Fieldtrips, fieldtrips, fieldtrips. The fourth grade is going on so many field trips. They went to the Aquarium. Look below for pictures. They went on a tour of the middle school. Many reported that they were nervous at first, but felt very excited after the tour. Apparently the cafeteria was very exciting. Today they are at Camp Watchaug participating in fun team building exercises. They are all very excited about Fun Day and their Promotion Ceremony.

That's it for Ready to Learn this year. It will be back next year.
