HG Temple Intermediate NEWS TO KNOW
November 16, 2015
As we are seeing signs of Christmas all around, let us not forget to slow down and cherish time with family and friends over the Thanksgiving holiday. If you would like to help with the Rev. Betty Kennedy food drive, please show up at the old Brookshire Brothers warehouse on Saturday, Nov. 20th. Help is needed to pack boxes, sort and deliver. This ministry was started by the late Rev. Kennedy and will continue to benefit families in the future. If you would like more information, please see me.
We were blessed to celebrate another beautiful Veterans Day program. It is always such an honor to remember those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom. As we watched the reports from Paris, we see freedom is not always wanted by everyone and the world as we once knew it will never be the same for our children, students and generations to come. The Channel 1 student news reports were very kid friendly and sparked great conversations. Keep our service men and women in your thoughts and prayers around the world. Our world is in need of prayer.
Thanks to Dr. Marcia Tate presenters
Thanks to all the teachers who shared knowledge from their recent training in Kilgore with Dr. Tate. We have some very "theatrical" teachers on this campus and a few who should keep their daytime jobs (sorry Meli- lol- love you) ! The teachers who attended received a workbook. They will be more than happy to share-- I know you need a good book to curl up with over the holidays.
College Day Thursday
We will celebrate college day on Thursday this week due to the Thanksgiving holidays. The menu is soup, chips and dips. I will make a crockpot of Chicken Enchilada Soup and I need at least 4 more types of soups. There will be a sign up sheet on my door.
Jr. High football games are over so jeans and spirit shirt are now only allowed on Fridays with the exception of college days !
How are you incorporating technology into your room? Is it only with AR/AM/Lexia? Kids love Kahoot! I have observed students writing poetry, writing letters, taking virtual field trips, googling information and creating Animoto videos. If you have technology, take it to the next level. If you have a student who has created something, please email and share with me to include in the newsletter or during lunch time with all students.
Junior Achievement Volunteers
Do you know someone willing to volunteer for JA? 5th grade will begin after the Christmas break. If you do, please let me know or have them contact Michelle Green at 632-0490 or 671-9826 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Volunteers are needed for 5th and 6th grade.
