Lopat's Lowdown
Office of the Principal - Faculty Newsletter August 30th
I feel like we dodged the Heat Advisory Recess schedule this week. While it was gross and hot out we didn't have to spend the whole week inside for recess. There are some schools in neighboring districts that are outside schools where kids also eat outside...and so...they've been in the classrooms...all...day. I don't think that would be fun.
I thoroughly enjoyed the grade level meetings I had last week. As the year progresses I will use that time to look at different data points and continue the conversations on students and how I can support you in the classroom. Furthermore, the two MTSS meetings I sat in on were equally fantastic. I missed the rest due to an admin PD but I was here for the afternoon ones and it is so impressive how well each of you know your students already. I think we do an excellent job of looking after our students' needs, and that starts with you! Thank you all for coming prepared and ready to talk about your kids.
We welcome a new Cougar to the staff this week. Gisella Hazen takes over as our new full time resource teacher. She started the school year in the Cope classroom at Boulder Creek. We're sad to see Amanda Hamilton leave and go back to Quartz Hill but Gisella will be here full time and brings a great skill set with her to Canyon Rim. Please introduce yourself and welcome her to our amazing school.
- I started walkthroughs this week. Remember the first one is focused on classroom environment. During the walkthrough, evidence is gathered and submitted. It looks a lot different than it has in GPS. Don't be alarmed if it's only a few pieces of evidence for Domain 2.
- Way to go on collecting field trip money! Monica is currently processing everything
- Tax Credit update- $2,598 was donated online to help our students
- Safety vests have arrived- If you do not have a safety vest please come up and grab your early holiday present. Wear them on duty so students identify you as a staff member and safe person.
Have a fun, relaxing, and much deserved 3 day weekend!
-Joe
