Construction Update!

If you haven't been to Whittier in a while, you'll need to stop by to see the progress made on our new school. The primary focus right now is on the foundation of the new building. The construction crew is on track to finish the foundation in the next 10 days. Work has begun on the underground water, sewer and electrical distribution through the building. This work will continue for the next couple of weeks and then the crew will begin placing slabs towards the end of the month. After the slabs are placed, it will get exciting and we will see rapid changes on site as they begin steel structure erection and masonry work. We are all really excited to see the progress.

Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten Registration is just around the corner. This year Kindergarten Registration will be held in the Whittier gym on Thursday, March 8th from 4:00-6:00pm. Please be sure to bring a state certified birth certificate, immunization records and your kindergartner for screening. Kindergarteners cannot be enrolled unless they are screened. Please call 208-854-6630 if you have any questions.

A Message from the PTO

The next PTO meetings will be Monday, Feb 12th at 11:45 am and 7pm in the library. Watch your email for the meeting agenda. We need to discuss teacher appreciation week and a movie night in Feb or March.

Thanks to all the parents, friends, neighbors and businesses who have supported WFC (Whittier soccer) financially, or with their time and energy. The games are underway and the kids are having a blast. This program really brings together our families to create a stronger community. We have about 200 kids participating this year and with all the generous donations we have not turned anyone away. We are currently fundraising for 2018 remaining expenses, and for next year at https://whittiersoccer.raiseitpro.org. Please share this link through social media to keep this wonderful program going.

Bus Zone

The Whittier administration would like to ask parents not to park in the bus loading zone during morning drop off and afternoon pickup times. Our buses need the space to be able to park and unload students off the buses safely. We also want to ensure the safety of our students who walk and who are driven to school. We appreciate your cooperation. Please don't hesitate to contact administration with any questions or concerns at 208-854-6630.

Congratulations Boys Basketball Team!

Our boy's basketball team has had a great season! They have played with a lot of passion and toughness. We are so proud of them! Congratulations on a great season!

Our Principal is Running a Marathon for Whittier!

Dr. Brendefur is running the Famous Potato Marathon (26.2 miles) on May 19th! She is running it to raise money for Whittier Futbol Club (WFC) and MOSS. Her goal is to raise $2,000 or more by having at least 80 people donate $26.20 in support of her run. All donations will be split equally between WFC and MOSS.

If you or anyone you know would like to support Dr. Brendefur on this journey, she would greatly appreciate it. Any contribution, no matter how big or small, would be so helpful. Checks can be made out to Whittier Elementary. And, if you're free on May 19th, come cheer Dr. Brendefur on at the race!
