New CoderDojo planned for Kinvara

The CoderDojo movement is one of the most exciting developments in education in recent years and plans are well advanced to begin a Dojo in Kinvara. A CoderDojo is a fun and friendly environment where young people aged 7-17 can learn to code (or programme) computers thus providing them with a unique and valuable learning opportunity (see www.coderdojo.com). In Galway we already have Dojos in NUIG and in Athenry. I am anxious to see one starting in South Galway and I believe Kinvara is the perfect location. I want to thank Dominic O'Gallchoir, Principal of Kinvara NS for his support for this project and for offering our new CoderDojo a venue in Kinvara NS. I also want to thank Declan Connolly of Kinvara Online and the Kinvara Scout Unit for raising awareness of the new CoderDojo and all those who have already volunteered to work as mentors. There is always room for more mentors! We are holding a public information meeting on next Tuesday the 19th of February at 8.30pm in Kinvara NS. Please feel free to come along and hear of our plans.
