Early Learners Highlights
November 5, 2021
Dear Early Learners Families,
Earlier this week I had the delight of sitting in the office watching our kids have an absolute blast playing outside in the carpet of leaves that have slowly fallen onto the ground. Some of my favorite fall memories are of my girls jumping or burying themselves in huge piles of leaves, and we love getting to watch some of these cherished childhood memories playing out on the grounds of our school.
As the weather slowly turns cooler, we will continue to take our students outside for recess often as we can. Our practice is to let kids go outside if the temperature/wind chill is 10 degrees or warmer and it is not raining or snowing too hard. Thank you for continuing to send your children to school with appropriate clothing for outdoor play. This would also be a great time to make sure we have an extra set of fall/winter appropriate clothes at school just in case!
Enjoy your extra hour of sleep this weekend!

Parent-teacher conferences will be held via Zoom on Monday, November 22 and Tuesday, November 23.
Conference sign-ups were sent out in a standalone email this past Monday. It is not too late to sign up! Please CLICK HERE to sign up for a conference.
We hope that families who choose to travel during the week of Thanksgiving will take advantage of the virtual conference structure and sign up for a time slot during our teachers' designated conference times.
What's Happening in Early Learners?
Grady's Group
Hi Early Learners Families,
This week in Grady's Group, we discussed the importance of the author and illustrator Vashti Harrison's contributions to the world. She was very important in sharing the work of people from different cultures, backgrounds, and colors. We looked at a brown egg and a white egg and discussed how they were different on the outside but were the same on the inside. Just like people...we look different on the outside but we are the same on the inside (we all have feelings, bones, organs, brains, etc).
We read Vashti's book Little Dreamers: Visionary Women Around the World, and we looked these important women up on the internet to see what they looked like and what skills they contributed to the world.
It's important for our kids to understand that they can do or achieve anything they want to. They need to know that the sky is the limit.
Have a great weekend!

Speech with Miss Nathanson
Hi Early Learners Families!
This week in speech group, we worked on sorting with buttons. We sorted by color, shape, and size. We focused on using words like small, smaller, and smallest as well as small, medium, and large. Sorting helps children recognize similarities and differences. It can also help us create patterns and describe objects.
Have a great weekend!
