Letter from the Principal
Dear Tualatin Black Bear Families,
We have really been enjoying the extra sunshine during school days. This has allowed for all recess locations to stay open to students and get plenty of fresh air. The sunny days forecasted for most days next week will continue to be welcomed for the needed time outside. Our new and returning students who have joined us in-person are all off to a great start. This is also a good time to get some important reminders out to everyone.
Parking Lot Safety:
Please be patient and drive very slowly through school parking lots. This is especially needed during arrival and dismissal times. Plan ahead because the drop-off and pick-up lines do move slowly so everyone is safe coming to and from school. Thank you for your help and cooperation.
Calling all Kindergarten and PreK Parents: Registration is Open - Please contact our office at 503 431-4800 for any registration support. We are here to help in any way we can. Enrollment is online at: https://www.ttsdschools.org/Domain/3516
Enjoy the holiday weekend!
Warm Regards,
Mr. Kingery
Principal
TTSD Indoor Mask Community Survey
On March 31, 2022, the Oregon Health Authority will lift the current indoor masking rule and return decision-making to school districts (link to announcement). With that, beginning March 31st, the Tigard-Tualatin School District will make indoor masking optional in our schools and buildings. It is important to note that masks will continue to be required at this time for district transportation and buses as that is a federal rule. TTSD will strongly recommend students and staff continue to mask indoors while significant spread of COVID-19 continues in our community.
TTSD is committed to our ongoing practice of engaging all stakeholders in decision-making. Feedback from our staff, students, families, and community is key to informing us regarding important issues that impact our district and school communities. Our practice has been proven through recent processes such as our annual community budget review, the community School Resource Officers (SROs) evaluation, and TTSD’s Student Success Act planning. Representing voices from all corners of our district is critical to well-informed decision-making.
Please be watching for important information and guidance next week and in the week’s ahead as we near March 31st. As always, please reach out to your principal or a district administrator if you have questions or need additional information.
TTSD’s formal plan in support of this new guidance will be presented at the March 14, 2022, School Board meeting. As we continue to build this plan, please take a moment to provide your feedback by participating in the short survey below. The survey will be open through March 3, 2022. Results will be shared along with changes in state and county guidance in the coming weeks.
Please Note: Staff and students should respond via their district-issued email account. Families should respond with the email registered at your school (the email that this notification was sent to). We will collect one survey per email or household.
Congratulations OBOB Finalists

PTA Restaurant Night
A reminder on how these work: you get the night off from cooking (um...yes please!), you order dinner from Papa Murphy's on February 23rd, and a percentage of all profits from that night go to Tualatin Elementary PTA! As always, the PTA uses the money we raise to directly support our school programs: field trips, library books, school supplies, class events, and so much more! Fundraisers like this one are what helps us keep our amazing school amazing... So go ahead, order pizza in. It's for the kids!
PRE-ORDER YOUR MEMORY BOOK TODAY!
Don’t forget to pre-order your Tualatin Elementary Memory Book this month for $20!
Order forms are due by Monday, February 28th. Supplies are limited and the memory book sells out each year. Pre-ordering by February 28th will reserve a copy for your child. Help Bridge the Gap for our Students!
The Foundation for Tigard Tualatin Schools (FTTS) annual Fund Drive is happening now! Donations from the drive help enrich our students' education. Your donations hire part-time teachers, support innovative teaching ideas and provide college scholarships.
The goal is to raise $75,000 during this year's Fund Drive! That will put the Foundation on track to give each school a $10,000 check for their School Grant, to be used to fund teacher hours that will bridge their most pressing instructional gap. More teachers, more learning!!
Check out all the ways that The Foundation for Tigard Tualatin Schools has helped Tualatin Elementary and donate today!
