BUCKS COUNTY SCIENCE RESEARCH COMPETITION
Last week, forty-eight 8th and 9th grade Lenape students competed in the Bucks County Science Research Competition. Starting in September, they picked topics, formed research questions, did background research, formed hypotheses, conducted experiments and analyzed results and drew conclusions from their results and given implications for the future. They have worked extremely hard!
The results are in: 8th grade Kaethe C., Bella C., Kushaal C., Cynthia H., Bridgett McG., Jessica N., and Ford R., all won honorable mention for their projects in the categories of Behavioral & Social Sciences, Medicine & Health, Botany, Biochemistry, Environmental Science, and Computer Science. Great job everyone!
8th graders Vidya B. with her project in Environmental Science, Riley G. with her project in Consumer Science, and Riya K. with her project in Earth and Space Science all won first place in their categories, won cash prizes, and advance to the next round. Congratulations!
8th graders Minseo O. with his Physics project, Maria R. with her Consumer Science project, Chloe T. with her Botany project, and Reuben T. with his Medicine and Health project placed second in their categories and won cash prizes. Great job and good luck at the next round!
Freshman Brielle W. with her Engineering project and Rehan D. with his Behavioral and Social Sciences project both placed third in their categories and advance to the next round. Best of luck!
Freshman Roman K. and Nathan N. won second place with their Team project on Earthquakes, won cash prizes and advance to the next round. Great work!
Freshman Kanishk N. won first place with his project in Physics, won cash prizes, and also advances to the next round. Congratulations!
Also, special awards were given out from nearby science organizations and community members. Kaethe C. won the Critical Thinking Award from the Philadelphia Association of Critical Thinking. Riley G. and Maria R. won the Reckner-Best Individual Award. Connor D. and Ani N. both won the DOW Chemical Award. And finally, Vidya B. won "best in show" for the middle school fair with the William Rissinger Founder's Award.
Congratulations to all and we couldn't be more proud of the hard work you've done this year. Best of luck to all advancing to the Delaware Valley Science Fair on April 4 & 5 in Oaks, Pa.
