Principal Points- October
Crystal Springs is on its way to becoming a King County Green School. Last year a few staff members began working on the Level 1 Green School certification for Crystal Springs. Exciting accomplishments over the year included replacing plastic silverware with real silverware, creating a native rock garden, constructing water cisterns to collect rain water for our vegetable garden and improving our recycling program. Stay tuned for the exciting possibilities to come!

Highly Capable Information
The Highly Capable Eligibility Process is underway for services beginning in the 2020-21 school year. You can learn more about highly capable services at the Northshore School District website under the “In Our Schools” tab. If you are interested in having your student considered for highly capable services, your first step is to provide parent permission. The parent permission form is available online at www.nsd.org/hicap.
This year, the Northshore School District will screen every student in kindergarten, first grade, and fifth grade, as well as new students enrolling prior to October 16th, 2019. The turnaround time between screening and assessment is much shorter this year. Parents must complete the permission form by 4 p.m. Friday, October 25th. Screening results for first and fifth graders will be mailed in November. Final assessment results will be available in January.
If you have multiple students in your family, you should complete one permission form per student. If your child currently has a single HiCap designation, we still need your permission to assess for the other content area. If your student is already dually qualified, no assessment is required. If you have questions, please contact hicap@nsd.org.
