BARBER BULLETIN
Week of August 28-September 1
A Fantastic First Week!
Thank you for your synergy this week to make the first four days of school an overwhelming success! The week kicked off with an amazing opening as each of you greeted students at your doors with warmth and high energy. Oh how special it was to see students embrace their favorite teacher after a long summer! And how proud our students were of their new school clothes....and when a teacher commented about those new shoes; my goodness, those few words simply equated to a beautiful smile.
What an awesome way to motivate our students on the 2nd day with an AVID pep rally for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students! They are certainly ready for a CHAMPIONSHIP year after such a thrilling morning with the USC Womens Basketball Team and USC cheerleaders!
Pats on the back to our early childhood teachers for practicing procedures and helping students learn the very basics that are vital to success this year! Our GLOBAL teachers have almost seen EVERY CLASS in the WHOLE SCHOOL! Kudos to our special education team members who synergized together as they built relationships with new students with unique needs. Thank you for supporting one another! Our interventionists are preparing their JumpStart groups and already beginning the screening process to serve students!
We are so fortunate to have Grace Presbyterian Church partnering with us this year. They served popcorn to our families at Back to School night and provided (60) book bags and supplies to our school for students in need. If you have a student that you think might benefit from a new book bag or additional supplies, please let our social worker, Nya Pollarad, know and she will assist you with sharing these items with students.
I look forward to reading your classroom mission statements as they are developed this week. It is the hope of the Lighthouse Team that Habit Huddle each morning is a time that both you and your students look forward to as we LIVE the habits!

Apply Now for the R2 Innovates Incubator!
R2 Innovates, an incubator, laboratory and hub for innovation, was created in 2013 to encourage Richland Two staff members to develop innovative, promising practices. We believe that teachers and staff members have great ideas that can bring positive change in Richland Two. The R2 Innovates process identifies teams with great ideas and works with them to put their ideas into action. We look for ideas that are desirable, feasible, and viable with the potential for scaling across the district.
Incubator teams are identified through an application process. Teams make initial pitches of their idea and then are provided with support to help them further develop their ideas through the human-centered design process. Teams that successfully complete a final pitch are provided with mentors, time to prototype their ideas, time to collaborate with other teams, and resources. They also have access to the R2 Innovates space at R2i2 for work sessions and team events.
Do you have a great idea? We want you! Create a team and apply now through Sept. 5 for the R2 Innovates Incubator! Visit our website for more information.
WE PROVIDE:
Mentors and resources
