Mission Statement
Weekly Announcements
Student Progress:
We are entering week 6 of quarter 2. We are only 20 days away from the end of quarter 2 and semester 1. Please take a few minutes and review your students’ progress for quarter 2. Remember that quarter 2 grades are averaged with quarter 1 grades for the semester grade that will be on your student’s transcript. If you have questions, contact your student’s teachers. If you would like to schedule a parent/teacher conference, contact Ms. Collige at 352-524-5539.
Tutoring:
We have free tutoring each Monday and Wednesday after school in the IRC from 1:45pm-3:45pm. Students can attend and get support in any course that they are currently struggling with. Again, this is FREE. Students must have their own transportation home.
Beanstack:
All of Pasco County Schools are currently in a R.A.C.E. to READ. The race is to encourage all our students and staff to take time daily to read. They are then asked to record their reading minutes on an app called Beanstack. We are currently in 1st place amongst all high schools. Keep up the great reading Pirate Nation. There is a competition taking place right now. The class with the highest amount of reading minutes will receive a prize prior to Thanksgiving break.
Testing:
We have a very busy testing schedule for the next 3 weeks. Please see the testing calendar in this newsletter to know the date of times for all testing. Attendance is mandatory for all of the tests. Please see Ms. Hanson if you have any questions.
Early Release Day:
Our next early release day is this Wednesday, December 6th. Students will be released from school at 11:43am.
Dual Enrollment:
Dual enrollment registration begins Monday, Nov. 27th and will continue throughout the week. Students date and times vary by grade level and credits earned. The PHSC advisor will be on PHS campus on the first day of registration to help students in the CRC from 9am-12pm. A counselor will be available the rest of the week in the CRC from 9am-12pm for help, if needed. Students can register completely online. Check your emails for registration instructions. Once you register for your spring 2024 courses, you can pre-order your textbooks. The textbook flyer was sent out via email and is available in this newsletter. Please see Ms. Chacon if you have any questions.
Seniors:
Seniors! Scholarships are being added daily to the CRC Canvas course and Naviance. Make it a habit of checking both locations weekly. See Ms. Edwards if you have any questions.
The new and improved FAFSA will open on December 31st. Please plan to attend our Financial Aid Night on December 5th, as we will have updates, along with scholarship information.
Seniors need to stop by Ms. Edwards’ office to verify their name and spelling for diplomas. Deadline is Friday, December 1st.
Travel Opportunities:
Visit Palaces in Prague, Turkish Baths in Budapest, and go back in time walking through the streets of Vienna. Join the Pirate Expeditions Spring Break 2024 tour. Enrollments close soon. See Ms. Reed in room 4-202 for more details.

Parent Volunteers:
If you are interested in being a volunteer for PHS, please make sure you have visited the Pasco County Schools website and complete the volunteer application. If you would like to join our active PTSA, please contact Dawn Enright.
Attendance:
Parents help us remind our students that great attendance increases academic achievement and student success. Our goal for all our students is to earn their high school diploma and be college, career, and life ready. Help us, help them, and make attendance a priority. Thank you for your partnership.
